MAY 7, 15 .. PATTI AND CAP .. ENJOYING HONG KONG .. PART 10 OF 10

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MY UPCOMING TRAVEL PLANS .. CLICK ON TRAVEL PLANS ABOVE ..

STATUE SQUARE .. sometimes I have heard it called Chater Square because Statue Square North and South is separated by Chater Road.  Statue Square is pretty much the very heart of the downtown Hong Kong Central Business District.

To go to the Central Library ..

To use the computers .. Patti and I almost daily walked through Statue Square. I just did this exact walk and decided to share it with Patti for memories and with all of you who might be interested in the beauty of downtown Hong Kong.

You get off the Tram ..

After getting down from the Tram .. you walk West and then turn around and look up at the HSBC (Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation) Building.

Then you turn around and proceed through Statue Square heading North for the Central Library.

The below view was probably Patti’s most favorite view as she would sit in the North section of Statue Square and just gaze at the below setting.

This is where we are heading .. The Hong Kong City Hall and Central Library as seen from Statue Square.

I have crossed Connaught Road Central and am standing to the West of the Library looking back from a distance across at the buildings that ‘frame’ Statue Square.

The HSBC is straight ahead above and below. Immediately to the right of the HSBC Building is brown hued Standard Chartered Bank Building.

It is an odd-light-day and the above photos are .. for some reason .. on the dark-side. I tend to prefer darker photos but today I just shot what my camera decided to shoot exposure-wise.

HONG KONG!  Truly! I am blessed. I hope you liked the above memory jog my Dear One ..

Smiles .. Cap ..

I JUST GOT A TAD MISTY-OF-EYE SEEING THE ABOVE PHOTOS AND THINKING OF ALL OF OUR WALKS THROUGH STATUE SQUARE MY DEAR ONE!

Thank you so much for the “visit” to Statue Square. It IS one of my favorite places … also felt a tug at seeing one of our familiar trams … as you well know, I love those trams! So nice that the pictures show the fountains, the trees and the flowers that are such an integral part of the aesthetics of Hong Kong … everywhere … natural beauty among the very beautiful high rise buildings, one of the many things I love so much about Hong Kong. Thanks again, I got choked up seeing the sites again!! Love and hugs. Patti

I am so happy you liked this small trip down recent memory lane. I am not sure you knew it was called Statue Square or that it has a prominent place in downtown Hong Kong history. YES Hong Kong sure has nice green areas doesn’t it .. the many parks between the buildings. Love .. Cap ..

    Hi Cap,

A super nifty tour with beautiful pictures of lovely Hong Kong! Even though you see so many high-rise buildings you really don’t see all the lovely gardens and fountains that are beautifully placed throughout Hong Kong! Very, very nice pictures! And a very nice tour and narrative by you – super nifty!

On your tour to the library, a question for you – how far is the library from your apartment and about how long does it take? How many changes in transportation do you make?

You certainly have some great tours setup back to India and a trip to Mongolia! Do you have any special tours setup for both India and Mongolia, i.e. through a travel company or are you just flying there (to both places) on your own? Of course I realize you know India like the back of your hand, but since you are normally in India for up to 6 months at a time, I was just curious what special places your were going to visit in India in four weeks; and of course any particular sites in Mongolia.

A side note regarding our local hockey team the “Reigns”. We won the first round and now playing in the second round, currently we are 2-1 wins. Another game in Utah this Friday and than back to Ontario for games on Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday if needed.

Of course I have been watching the Stanley Cup playoffs and have been very exciting as always! Last second goals – literary, the last second to win a game in a couple of cases, really makes it exciting – to the very end of a game! I know you have a busy schedule, but are you able or have seen any hockey games currently on-going for the “Cup”?

    Enjoying your travels!!

I sure wish you would fly on over here ‘Zilla .. THE LIBRARY .. it is from 20 minutes (absolute best timing) to 30 minutes (longest) by just a single Street Car Tram. It is five Tram Stops heading East into Hong Kong Central. Then I walk through Statue Square. Simon .. bless Simon .. can walk it in 15 minutes or less.

India .. I plan only to visit friends in New Delhi .. Agra Cantt .. Calcutta .. Puri Orissa .. The Jury is Out on Mongolia. I think I will stay two weeks. NO specific plans now. I WILL do tours IF it is the best decision on the ground at the time.

      Smiles .. Cap ..

You’ve captured the beauty of Hong Kong, a mere fraction of the beauty of Hong Kong in these awesome photos. I really like the bas relief art with the oranges, creams, grays and browns.

It warms my heart to know how much you and Patti mean to each other.

    Love,
    Shaddy
