MAY 24, 15 .. A DAY IN MY LIFE .. TRAVEL PLANNING ..

I am not-at-all-sure of how many of you look at my TRAVEL PLANS .. The button above to the right of POSTS. Yesterday I wrote that .. In terms of my travel within India before I fly back to Hong Kong on June 4th that I was not sure of what I wanted to do nor when I wanted to do it.

By the way .. IF you don’t look at my travel plans I cannot blame you because I have not done the best-of-jobs keeping this page up-to-date and current.

Yesterday suddenly I came up with my perfect plan.

Take a train from New Delhi to Puri Odisha .. Then return from Puri to Agra Cantt .. Then from Agra Cantt return back to New Delhi and fly to Hong Kong June 4th. A nifty circuit. Yes Patti it shocked me when I saw Orissa is now called Odisha! Puri is too small to be shown by name on the below map. You can always zoom in using the (+) button on the vertical scale on the left side of the map or zoom out using the (-) button. Then you click the cursor onto the map and holding the mouse down move the map as you wish.

So off to the railway station here in New Delhi in the HEAT I walked yesterday afternoon. I waited only about 10 minutes before I sat down with a booking officer. There was no problem in booking a train from New Delhi to Puri leaving Monday the 25th. Done deal. Then I said I want to go from Puri Odisha back to Agra Cantt.

“Sir we can’t confirm that .. The train is full .. No seats available” .. “OK then book me from Puri back to New Delhi.” .. “Sir we can’t do that either.”

“You mean you can get me to Puri but not back to New Delhi?” .. “That Sir is correct .. At least not on the dates that you are requesting to travel Sir.”

“OK book me from Puri going North to Calcutta. Then to New Delhi.” .. “No berths available either Sir.” .. “OK book the Rajdhani Express from New Delhi to Calcutta.” .. “Sorry Sir .. No berths available.”

STRIKE THREE AND I WAS O-U-T!

I decided that I would NOT extend my stay in India past June the 4th in order to make the above (New Delhi to Puri to Agra Cantt to New Delhi) plan work. Yes I sure considered it but after pondering the idea I remained firm in my resolve to return to Hong Kong on June 4th.

So I am going to Agra Cantt next Thursday the 28th and will return to New Delhi on Monday the 1st of June and fly back to Hong Kong June 4th.

So much for my travel plans.

Today I set three priorities for myself. Go to the New Delhi YMCA to just chill out. Get postcards to write to YOU. Go to McDonald’s and get a Blueberry and Chocolate Brownie McFlurry.

The topmost balloon in the map below is McDonald’s. The second balloon is my post card shop. Those two I got to. Then the HEAT TOOK ME DOWN and I came back to my hotel not wanting to walk the long walk in the heat to the YMCA the lowest balloon on the bottom left below. You can see that is a LONG walk!

So out and off I went to McDonald’s. McDonald’s is in the B BLOCK of Connaught Place in the center of New Delhi. Notice the crowd!

I am now in the B BLOCK walking towards McDonald’s which will be coming up on the right side of the walkway. Below you can see McDonald’s past the RED ZEN signs on the right.

McDonald’s is one busy place!

Connaught Place is one busy place also! I mean .. Stop and take a moment .. and look at all of the people! Hong Kong has nothing on New Delhi when it comes to crowds!

I got a Blueberry Chocolate Brownie McFlurry ..

And I got a DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE McFlurry!

Now well ‘armed’ with some energy .. I was off to the Post Card Shop I have been going to for some several decades!

My Post Card Shop is in the A BLOCK of Connaught Place in central New Delhi. The B BLOCK where McDonald’s is located is to our back in the below photos.

We are now into the A BLOCK ..

There are many very high class shops in Connaught Place!

Dog Days let me tell you all!

A quick aside .. I did NOT shoot the above photos when I went out in the early afternoon. NO it was just too scorching hot. I went back to my hotel and cooled down and slept and rested. Then I went back out to shoot them about 6PM when the heat had diminished considerably. YES I had McFlurrys at noontime and again at 6PM so I could shoot the photos of the CHOCOLATE MONSTER!
