SEPTEMBER 24, 2015 .. ULAANBAATAR MONGOLIA ..

“Come in Kanbaatar.”

“Kanbaatar! Do you read me? Mongolian-Warrior calling.”

“10-4 Mongolian-Warrior! I read you loud and clear.”

“Kanbaatar .. Have we the beginning of winter in Mongolia?” 

“Roger-That Mongolian-Warrior. It looks like winter is approaching Mongolia.”

Whew .. When I awoke this morning I looked out and voila .. snow was falling. It is NOT the snow that will stick for the next many months .. but then again .. neither is the first snow in Alaska or elsewhere. Is it snowing where YOU are this instant? I think not!

“Kanbaatar .. This is just a small warning shot across your bow!” .. SIGNED .. MONGOLIAN WINTER ..

TRULY I AM SO BLESSED!

I have been accorded the honor .. and yes .. it is an honor .. to have been asked to travel South of Ulaanbaatar to speak before a multi-district group this upcoming Saturday and continuing into Sunday in Choir Mongolia. You might say that I am going to share my experience .. strength .. and hope.

Using the superior Mongolian Educational Technique .. I will refresh your memories of where Mongolia is located.

Mongolia is the small RED BALLOON in the center ‘Zilla .. See it?  The extreme Western edge of ALASKA is the BALLOON on the upper right. Actually Alaska is quite a bit further North than Mongolia.

Choir Mongolia is pronounced as a very gutteral Chur!  You do NOT pronounce it as ..’Did you enjoy the Church Choir!’

I can NOT even begin to vaguely approximate the spoken sounds of Mongolian accurately. ‘Chur’ is South and slightly East of Ulaanbaatar on the Northern edge of the Gobi Desert about a 3-hour drive from Ulaanbaatar.

Changer and I plan .. The weather .. wind .. rain .. and snow permitting .. to leave Ulaanbaatar at 8AM this upcoming Saturday morning the 26th of September.

Changer is .. MY MAIN MAN .. here in Mongolia ..

Changer ..with a little help from me .. has been preparing for the series of talks I will present. We began to prepare last Sunday when we spent several hours going over my topics and general approach. Changer is working hard to translate some literature I am going to present into Mongolian so he is ready and on-top-of what I will be speaking about. When you are working with a translator the two of you become a real team. You MUST assist your translator(s) as best-you-can so as not to totally surprise them with sudden new-to-them topics. You also must speak in relatively short phrases. You can NOT rip off five minutes of non-stop talking and expect your translator(s) to catch all-of-it. It is amazing the words we take-for-granted in our vocabulary that they have never heard of here in Mongolia.
