NOV 13, 16 .. RAS AL KHAIMAH .. MY LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER

Nothing too noteworthy here, but I decided to post the below photos. As you all can see, to some degree, even though I am leaving in a day or two, I am settling in here in Ras Al Khaiman.

In the first photo below, you see my laptop on the small table at the foot of my bed. If you look carefully at the chair to the left of the table, you can see there is no room for my knees to slip under the table. My knees will actually touch the small table at its top edge which protrudes out.

Let me tell you, the uncomfortable position of sitting forward all the time has gotten my back very tired out. Below you can see my solution. I put two drawers under the table to elevate it. A great improvement. Now I can comfortably slip my knees under the table.

And people ask me, “Cap?  What do you do all day!”

Across the road from my hotel is a small shopping center.

Today I decided to walk over and investigate my very own local shopping center here in Ras Al Khaimah.

RAK HOTEL on the hill in front of my hotel. The RAK stands for Ras Al Khaimah.

My room is the extreme upper right room.

I think that I will do a little, very careful, J-walking to save a long walk to the traffic light and back. It is a major road. YES!  The traffic was roaring at me.

dscn89301

I made it. No drama. Here is the restaurant I see from my hotel room.

dscn89321

I could not tell what the building below was as I viewed it from my hotel room.

A real, and I mean a really real, shopping market.dscn89371

Directly from Lebanon by plane.

dscn89641

I did not have a crystal clear idea of where Lebanon fits into the Mid East picture. Now I do. Don’t we all just love Andrej’s maps!

baskin BR robbins .. I just love the multi-national companies.

Now do you believe that I have a really real mini-super market. Chocolate cornflakes!

Over to the East, in India, in the city of Pondicherry, one of my favorite restaurants and bakeries is Hot Breads.

Below is a photo of Hot Breads snapped in ‘Pondi’ in 2013.

UNREST 002

Can you all imagine, how tickled pink I was, when, in my very own small mini-shopping center, here in Ras Al Khaimah, in the United Arab Emirates, I suddenly came upon the below scene.

dscn89421

“OK Captain! Whatever it takes to tickle you pink!  .. and .. “Captain! Your Dinkey Bird IS singing in its Amfalula Tree Captain.”

dscn89591

Hot Breads here in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE. It was like ‘old home week’ for me.

Directly straight ahead against the wall are sandwiches.

For dinner I had a Brown Tuna sandwich (above) and a Chicken Tikka sandwich (below).

My very own local pharmacy.

The below photo was taken at the far end of my mini-shopping center looking back at my hotel. Please notice the two ‘dumpsters’ you see in the lower right of the below photo. The closest ‘dumpster’ is green and the other is white. Do you see them?

dscn89561

Upon close observation, in the below photos, will you all look at the wonderful and caring and consideration-for-others each of these ‘dumpsters’ represents!

dscn89541

I was deeply touched when I realized what they were and what they represent.

dscn89531

As you can see in the photo below, they are being used for their intended purpose.

This visit to the Mid East sure is ‘proving out’ to be a life changing event for me.

With Gratitude .. Cap

Now, that’s my engineer … using the two drawers to raise the table so you could get your knees under the table while you are at the computer … VERY clever! The shopping mall holds lots of attractions for you, and, of course, I had to giggle when you were confronted with HOT BREADS IN UAE. Glad you are taking a few days off to just rest up in Ras Al Khaimah. You have been on the fast track since you got to the UAE on October 1st. Enjoy the recharge opportunity. Love, Patti

Love being much more comfortable here at my computer table. What a difference it makes to be closer and not leaning forward awkwardly. I sure do like my little mini-shopping mall. It needs me and it needs its customers. Will try to get a better photo of the green collection dumpster for clothes for the needy. I may just stay awhile here. We were at Hot Breads in Pondi last January. Hugs and Love .. Cap
