HISTORIC ARKANSAS RIVERWALK

OF PUEBLO.

You can see Pueblo, Colorado, in the map below.

The below maps show you some details of the Riverwalk. According to tripadvisor, the Riverwalk is rated as the Number One Attraction in Pueblo. If you click the below link you will visit the tripadvisor reference thereto.

Don’t ask me why the river that flows right through downtown Pueblo, Colorado, is named the Arkansas River but it certainly is. The State of Arkansas is quite far East of both Pueblo and Colorado!

There it is sports fans. The Arkansas River in downtown Pueblo, Colorado.

To save your eyesight should you want to read what the words say in the below photo, I have provided them to you.

Today, June 3, 2017, is the 96th Anniversary of this flood.

On June 3, 1921, the mighty Arkansas River flooded, ravaging the heart of downtown Pueblo. The flood resulted in over one hundred deaths and millions of dollars in property damage. Seventy-nine years later the citizens of Pueblo have created the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo which celebrates the courage, vision, and diversity of this great community.

The Riverwalk is an area, not a point on the ground. The actual footpath in the main area is approximately one-mile in length.

The three red balloons in the map below ‘outline’ the main part of the Riverwalk.

MAP SHOWING THE MAIN RIVERWALK AREA

There is another part of the Riverwalk (the Pedal Boat Zone) that is located Northwest of the above main area. The upper left red balloon in the below map shows the Pedal Boat Zone. The lower right red balloon shows the traditional, and most densely visited, area.

THE PEDAL BOAT ZONE MAP

I will devote Part 3 of 4 Parts of my blogspot Post to this particular area of the Riverwalk that is called the Pedal Boat Zone.

Since (quite inadvertently) I am showing parts of the Riverwalk here in this Post, I will show you some photos taken of the Riverwalk as snapped from the South Union Avenue Bridge (upper left red balloon) and from South Main Street Bridge (lower right red balloon).

SOUTH UNION AVENUE AND SOUTH MAIN STREET MAP

South Union Avenue is a large, major thoroughfare through downtown Pueblo.

The below two photos of the Riverwalk face to the Southeast. They were snapped from the above South Union Avenue Bridge.

South Main Street, like South Union Avenue, is also a large, major thoroughfare through downtown Pueblo.

The below photos face the Southeast and were snapped from the South Main Street Bridge.

If you return to the above map, you can see how the above and below features of the East Riverwalk in these photos look on the map.

In Part 4 of 4 of my blogspot Post, I show the three Riverwalk restaurants that I have enjoyed. Angelo’s Pizza Parlor and Brues Alehouse are named on the map. Graham’s Grill is the unnamed red balloon just below Angelo’s.

MAP SHOWING MY RIVERWALK RESTAURANTS

What you have seen above is a work-around that I put together for my blogspot website.

I am in the midst of publishing a four part Riverwalk Post on blogspot. On blogspot I am going to install a link to this Post so my blogspot readers can access the above maps to help them better understand the Riverwalk.

Isn’t it utterly amazing that on blogspot, a Google website, I am not able to post the Google Maps that I am able to show here on DOT.net!

With an enormous round-of-applause for Monsieur Andrej!

If you haven’t already done so, why not go to blogspot and check out the Riverwalk Posts there.

The Riverwalk and Pedal Boat Zone both look very pleasant, and nice restaurants! I still have to smile at “Arkansas River” being in the heart of Pueblo, Colorado!! Chuckling … Patti
