SEP 6, 17 .. SHOT AT AND MISSED.. SHAT AT AND HIT.. STILL STANDING

JET LAG

Patti (last Monday, a week ago, 28 August) and I (yesterday 5 September) just experienced our 77th and 81st Birthdays. Like the famous / or the infamous Two Peas in a Pod, we are, Two ‘Virgos’ Wandering Around hooked together at our waists.

Jet Lag is a real, actual physiological (having to do with one’s physical body) phenomenon. Both Patti and I are experiencing it right now as I write these words.

I would have written this Post yesterday ON my Birthday but this phenomenon called ‘Jet Lag’ continues to slam me. I sit here, at 4 o’clock in the very early morning on Wednesday the 6th, wide awake because, my physical body ‘knows’ that in Hong Kong and in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the time is now 4 o’clock in the late afternoon on Wednesday and to some extent my physical body is asking me..

“Dad why are we in bed trying to sleep? It is 4 o’clock in the afternoon.”

Yesterday, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, I was passed-out, sleeping soundly as-if-dead because my body was saying to me..

“Dad. It is 4 o’clock in the middle of the night over in Hong Kong and Mongolia. Why are we trying to be up on our feet functioning when I, your body, am experiencing my very lowest bio-rhythms of my 24-hour day?”

I believe that IF a woman could remember.. really and truly remember and bring back into her conscious mind ALL of the experiences (Morning sickness .. I feel like I weigh a ton with this child inside of me kicking around .. Pant like a puppy .. Squeeze down hard .. etc et al) of conceiving and bearing and birthing a child complete with the postpartum depression experience and add in the terrible twos there might be more one child families!

IF I could actually bring back to my conscious mind the entire experience of these 12-hour duration (or even worse) Jet Lags that I have to work my way through when I make a long-haul international flight across the planet Earth to its other side, maybe I would think twice and decide.. “I don’t want and I don’t need the Jet Lag experience so I won’t go over there.”

With Jet Lag comes Jet Lag Depression.

We both received exceptionally good news last Friday when my Mayo Doctor basically gave me a clean-bill-of-health (come back and see me in 6-months).

Instead of being deliriously (wild with excitement, enthusiasm, etc) happy at the truly outstanding news about my left kidney, we remain in a sort of stunned state of mind and body primarily (I believe) due to the effects we are feeling because of Jet Lag.

I’ve talked this over with many other ‘world travelers’ and each agree it is a real phenomenon.

BUT all is not grim and bleak. We two are still managing to function (at least for parts of our days) while working our way through this current Jet Lag phenomenon.

WE TRULY ARE BLESSED

THE MAYO CLINIC

To wit : I managed to function quite well as I worked my way with Patti through my Mayo schedule last Thursday and Friday.

Just in case some of you don’t think that I am taking this health challenge seriously..

When I saw my Mayo doctor, I ‘looked-like-this’. First impressions are lasting impressions.

OK Black Beauty, Patti certainly will snap a photo of you and I together.

To wit : The two of us, along with the Jet Lag challenge, are also really enjoying our Minnesota dining experience.

EDDIE’S

Singapore Rice Noodles here IN Minnesota are as good as the very best-of-the-best in Hong Kong.

DENNY’S

NEW CHINA

Bianca, age 7-years, helps her mother, greets customers, takes phone and in-person orders, and is the cashier.

THE OUTBACK STEAK HOUSE

NUPA SOUTH

MAC’S

NUPA NORTHWEST

“One photo Dad? All I get here is only the one photo above?”

“Sigh! That is much better Dad. After all, it was I who put the finishing touch on dinner here at Lupa’s North.”

There you have it.

If you can believe this, at the very least, thirty (30) years ago I purchased the tie for well over Fifty ($50) Dollars. I have not worn said tie for (not years) but some decades. It ‘goes with’ many colors so it’s is a great one-only tie to have with me. My Mayo doctor himself was very nicely suited-up. Pleased you noticed. Cap
