JAN 30, 18 .. SUDDENLY I HAD THIS ‘FEELING’ COME OVER ME

Back in the day, one of the chewing gum companies, was it the Wrigley Chewing Gum Company,  had a catchy advertising slogan that was as follows ..

“I’m not talking while the flavor lasts.”

For all you never wanted to know about chewing gum and its loss of flavor ask Google ..

By the way, IF you closely read the above link or any link, you can generally tell if the link is legitimate and not worry about clicking onto it.

Where was I going with this?

Got it?

Last week, as I was visiting with Patti here in our condo, suddenly, right-out-of-nowhere, I was almost overwhelmed with a feeling that the depressive episode that I have been experiencing had suddenly lifted.

And, when this feeling swept over me, I did not say word one to Patti, and I thought to myself about the above chewing gum commercial, saying to myself,

“I’m not talking while this feeling lasts.”

I was afraid that I might be sadly mistaken or I might, somehow, ‘jinx’ the good feeling.

This past Sunday, day-before-yesterday, Patti and I were out for a wonderful drive, and I turned to Patti and said to her,

“Sometime last week, while you and I were visiting, I had the feeling that the depressive epsode has lifted.”

Patti replied saying,

“I was looking at you and I saw and I felt the same thing.”

Whew!

Neither of us have been able to precisely pinpoint when this happened.

But,

“Only now am I talking about it.”

And?

I do indeed feel that the depressive episode has lifted.

A few photos taken during our drive last Sunday.

We headed North out of Anchorage on the Glenn Highway driving towards Eagle River and further North.

The upper right red balloon in the below map points to Thunder Bird Falls and Ekluta, Alaska. It is a drive of about 30-miles one way.

And we two are off, driving North up the Glenn Highway.

When I came upon the below sign ..

I said to myself, “Oh come on now! I am not going one step further. You must be kidding.”

“Whoa ‘Zilla! Are you reading along here?” .. The lady who was driving this auto is indeed from your-neck-of-the-woods.

Off we go, heading North from Thunder Bird Falls to Eklutna, Alaska.

The Eklutna Village Tribal Government building.

St. Nicolas Russian Orthodox Churches here in Eklutna Village.

On the right above, and in the below photo, you see the original St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church.

The newer St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church.

Eklutna is a very special place.

From Eklutna we drove back South to Eagle River, Alaska.

“Patti?” .. “Yes My Dear One.” .. “Let’s you and I drive up to Mt. Baldy. Do you see it in the distance.” .. “I see it. Great. Let’s drive up.”

“We are almost there.”

It is quite a drive up from Eagle River, to Mt. Baldy.

Ah the views looking down from Mt. Baldy.

“Patti? Let’s you and I enjoy dinner together after this great afternoon drive.” .. “Sounds great.”

Pleasant venue.

“Patti? Do you see what I see?” .. “Yes I do. Singapore Meifun also called Singapore Rice Noodles.”

Very nice miso soup.

Patti had spicy tuna sushi.

Singapore Rice Noodles along with Patti’s sushi.

I have never ever, anywere on this earth, had better Singapore Rice Noodles.

A very nice Sunday, the 27th of January 2018.

Patti and Cap

I’m still not talking too very much about this even though the depressive episode remains at-bay.

    Hi Cap,
Sure enough, we have our folks in Victorville who not only like our nice weather here (currently in the mid 70’s) but enjoy the sun and cold in lovely Alaska!! For me, the lovely 70’s is just fine! I’m always amazed that you can locate the “right” restaurant that has Super “Singapore Rice Noodles”!

‘Zilla the trick is simply this : First you have to find a restaurant that cooks Singapore Rice Noodles. THAT being accomplished, and it is not all that easy to do because many do NOT cook them, getting some that are really good is pure, unadulterated LUCK. We howled when Patti spied the car with California license plates FROM Victorville. Sharp eyes ‘Zilla. I said to Patti when she pointed out the car, “We MUST take a photo for ‘Zilla.” Smiles from Patti who saw it and Cap who just snapped a photo or two.
