DEC 30, 18 .. TODAY IS A ‘TRAVEL DAY’

Today, Sunday the 30th of December, has dawned with the temperature a crispy -33°C or a -27°F. Take your choice, pick one or pick the other, it makes no difference, it is ‘cautiously cold ‘ here in Abakan, Russian Siberia. Up in the interior of Alaska, we begin to take-notice when the temperature hits -20°F because from that point down to colder temperatures it is almost impossible to tell the difference in the temperature. And IF you get to -40°F (which equals -40°C) you’ve reached ‘seriously cold ‘ and need to take precautions to protect your lungs and other parts of your body from damage due to the cold weather.

I will be boarding a train this evening at 7pm to go North from Abakan (bottom red balloon ) to Krasnoyarsk (upper red balloon ). We are scheduled to arrive into Krasnoyarsk at 6:40am tomorrow morning.

So it will be a trip during the winter darkness of Siberia.

Patti will be updating this post as the day progresses. She will advise you who are interested that Mike and I are ON the train and that the train has begun to slowly roll out of Abakan.

OKAY … Patti here with an update.  At 3 a.m. Alaska time, 7 a.m. EST, Cap is now ‘rolling’ on the train from Abakan to Krasnoyarsk. Krasnoyarsk is going to be the largest city yet that Cap will be visiting, a little over one million people.  Irkutsk is about 602,000; Kyzyl is about 113,000 and Abakan is about 170,000.

I AM GOING TO BED AND TO SLEEP!!!

More to follow once I can report that Cap has arrived in IN Krasnoyarsk.

Sleepy smiles … Patti in Alaska … Cap in Siberia

    Hey Cap,
I hear you are the toast of Siberia, and your roadshow keeps expanding… those ice sculpture pics are beautiful, and nice to see that L-O-V-E is still universally wished and hoped for… it’s the only thing that can save us, if humans are to survive.

    Stay warm!

How nice to see a comment here Danny. Rumor has it that you two are practicing learning to pronounce the names of the various Russian cities that I am visiting. Good luck on : Minusinsk. I can spell it, it is MINUS IN (a place called) SK. Pronounce it? I can’t quite get there. All of them. with a little bit of effort, can indeed be successfully broken down into pieces. Krasnoyarsk. Kras .. (has) No .. Yarsk. Now please pulleez don’t ask me what a Yarsk is. I fear that the human condition is not repairable. Jesus (in the book of John) said, Love one another as I have loved you. Good luck on seeing that eh? Words not actions. I’ll do my best to survive. You learn to stoically adapt to being cold. Smiling all the while .. Cap IN Krasnoyarsk Russian Siberia.
