JUL 18, 19 (Part 2 of 2) .. AS I WRITE .. PATTI IS ‘IN-THE-AIR’ EN ROUTE FROM HONG KONG TO SEATTLE, WASHINGTON.

Thank You My Dearest Patti for the gift-of-you.

Below is a photo of one of Patti’s favorite quotes:

The above words could have originated with me when I asked Patti to join me in Russia.

Well My Dear One, it sure was NOT always easy was it? I do hope that it was worth it.

Thank You Patti for the gift of this late evening.

The Gift :

Patti and I left our hotel room at the Kowloon YMCA Hotel at 7:15pm to catch a bus to the Airport Express Train Terminal. Patti had been resting and I was out at the bus stop timing the arrivals and departures of the Airport Express Shuttle buses.

In spite of Hong Kong evening traffic, the interval between the shuttle buses was about 15-minutes. So when the time-had-come to head for the Airport Express Train Terminal, I went up to our room to get Patti and we left the hotel. We arrived at the bus stop, and had not waited 5 minutes when our bus arrived. Perfection. No long wait.

We arrived at the Airport Express Train Terminal and Patti did a Hong Kong, In-City, Cathay Pacific check-in. Boarding Pass in hand and her suitcase checked, we were free to head for the Airport Train. It was 7:45pm. Patti’s flight was at 11:55pm. We were running very early.

Almost casually (Patti’s Kindle electronic reading tablet had been plugged in and was charging so as to be topped-off for her flight) I asked Patti : “Did you pack your Kindle?”

Patti blanched, turned very pale, and dejectedly said :

“Oh NO! Cap I did not pack it!”

Ladies and Gentlemen. Sports Fans everywhere. Patti spends hours reading books downloaded onto her Kindle. Her Kindle and she are almost inseparable.

I could not comprehend Patti being on a 12-1/2 hour flight without her Kindle.

This time Your Captain ‘got-it-right’ !

With no hesitation, with not-so-much as one instant-micro-second of negativity, I told Patti :

“Sit right here. Please don’t move. I am on my way!

It took me an honest fifty (50) minutes to get back to our hotel, retrieve her Kindle, and return to a waiting Patti.

Here is the Gift.

I told Patti : “At some future point-in-time, when you and I are having a difficult time-of-it, I am going to play-the-Kindle Card by saying to you : “Remember the Kindle?

Oh yes! I was smiling from ear-to-ear as I wrote the above words.

And off we went to board our train for the airport.

We were at the Cathay Pacific Concierge Counter at the Hong Kong International Airport, at 9:35pm. They said : “Be here at 10:40pm / 2240 hours and your wheel chair will be waiting.

And out and off the two of us trotted for a McFlurry, a Double Hamburger, and an hour visit at McDonald’s.

Five months and change (February 11 – July 18). Too many memories to contemplate.

The Time Had Come

We’ll sign off for now.

I could not imagine you on that long haul flight without your Kindle. It was ‘get up and go get the Kindle’ time. I am so thankful that I thought to ask you in good time and NOT on the train out to the airport. THAT would have been an issue. Much Love from Hong Kong .. Cap
