AUG 15, 19 .. THE JURY IS BACK .. THE VERDICT : AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED HERE IN IRKUTSK

Back on August the 9th, last Friday to be exact, I was suddenly struck with the feeling that Autumn had, overnight, quietly begun its annual appearance here in Irkutsk.

This past week my premonition has been confirmed. The change of seasons from Summer to Autumn is now indeed underway.

Sometimes we have a vague feeling that something is missing. But we don’t know what it is until later.

The night before last I put my-mental-hand-on what it was that was missing. It had to do with my evening walks beside the Angara River and I said to myself, “They are no longer here. They are what I have been missing without being able to identify it.”

So last night, and during several different trips to the Angara River today, I confirmed and I re-confirmed what was missing. Their very absence from the Angara River area proves to me, beyond any doubt, that Autumn has officially arrived here in Irkutsk.

Patti My Dear One, this stunned me :

The Arctic Terns are gone.

I missed them but I did not know that I was missing them until it struck me few days later. I was just settling down to sleep and it hit me : There were no Arctic Terns down along the Angara River the other night. You know how they just swarmed the boat docking area. They also just swarmed their small island out in the Angara River. How they would swarm off shore from the walkway beside the river.

Whew! I am missing them My Dear One.

So sorry we had to leave you.

But our biological clocks told us : NOW is the time to migrate.

A little Hollyhock chit chat with Patti : My Dear One, with Autumn really settling in, I fear that many of the buds are not going to blossom.

In the below photo, you can clearly see just how many buds still remain on their stalks.

They are beautiful aren’t they?

Well Hello to you Miss Husky!

Tomorrow, Friday the 16th of August, I will be going to Baykalsk to attend a Convention.

WOW! The arctic terns were such a presence at the river. It is hard to believe that they are all gone. I have noticed the geese gathering on the expansive lawns around Anchorage on their journey out of the north .. a sign of autumn here as well. The husky dog made me smile! It is apparent that not all the hollyhock buds will have time to open. That’s a little sad. I feel like I am there with you when I read your posts! Smiles and hugs. Patti

My Dear One .. YOU ARE HERE with me when you read these Posts. And when I am beside the Angara River .. and .. and .. and ..

I was stunned when I suddenly realized that the Arctic Terns were gone. I knew YOU’D realize their departure meant that Autumn was here.

Yes it is sad when so very many of the buds will not come to fruition and blossom but I fear the worst because already some of them are turning brown and passing on from their destiny of blooming into beautiful flowers. The Husky was a real character. She followed me from the Memorial all the way to the boat docks. I never did see to whom she belonged. Thanks for your reading and commenting on this Post. Much Love .. Cap
