SNOW

For What It’s Worth, my post of yesterday was titled:

NICE TRY MISTER WINTER .. SORRY .. NO CIGAR YET

I showed the snow we’d gotten yesterday here in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Below is what it looks like today.

Patti thought that yesterday’s snow ‘counts’ as the first snow of the upcoming Winter 2019-2020. I felt NICE TRY MISTER WINTER .. SORRY .. NO CIGAR YET.

SPIRITUAL TRUTHS

In this micro treatise, I’m going to discuss two realms : The Physical and The Spiritual.

In the Physical Realm we are NOT created equal. Period. No debate. No further discussion is necessary.

In the Spiritual Realm we ARE created equal. IF I can do something spiritually, everyone can also do it IF they choose.

This statement is especially true : IF I, Your Captain, can do something one time, spiritually, I can do it again. IF I so decide.

I have gotten into a terrible habit. Hurrying, rushing to my local bus stop, evidently thinking to myself : IF I miss the next bus there will never ever be another bus downtown.

In the Spiritual Realm : You have got to want to.

This morning I made a decision : Just today, just this one single solitary time, I am going to walk to the bus stop slowly. I am NOT going to keep looking across the street to see if a bus is coming. I am NOT going to cross against the RED PEDESTRIAN DO NOT WALK LIGHT no matter the fact there are no oncoming cars. I will do what all of the other Mongolians do, just today I’ll WAIT for the GREEN PEDESTRIAN OK TO WALK LIGHT.

IF there is a bus coming or waiting at the stop, I will NOT trot to get it. Just today, just this one time, I will save my aching knees and walk slowly. IF I miss the bus waiting, I’ll get the next bus. Just for today.

And I did all of the above. Just today. Just this one time.

To help me in this massive, next to impossible endeavor (to exert oneself to do or effect something; make an effort; strive:) I took a few more photos of my local Nomin store. This slowed me down considerably.

So far so good. Piece of cake. As I was slowly walking with all of the other Mongolians, MY bus was standing at the bus stop. I did NOT change my above game plan. Slowly I proceeded. MY bus finished loading (there were no other people at its door). I crept towards it.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Evidently the (lady) bus driver was watching me in her rear view mirrors, creeping along with my cane (and she, the lady bus driver, thought to herself : Just this one time, I’ll wait for this poor man creeping along with his cane. BUT never again. But just this one time I’ll wait. The next time I’ll burn rubber to get away fast. )

And she did. She waited for me. And I boarded the jam-packed-sardine-like-bus. And immediately a young lady, sitting by the front door squeezed and manipulated herself up and out of her seat and let me sit down.

You believe. You don’t believe. You are all-in or you are all-out. There is no middle ground here.

My Mission : To repeat this behavior the next time I go to get a bus downtown.

I want to do this one more time, with your assistance, OH GOD OF ABRAHAM.

Smiling .. Cap

Well, the bright, sunny day certainly did take away all traces of the snow that fell yesterday! Your message about deciding not to hurry today is a good message. So many times it is far more satisfying to move forward in a more peaceful way rather than rushing through life and missing so much along the way. This post helped me take several long, slow, deep breaths .. and it felt wonderful! Smiles and love, Patti

I’m happy this post, in whatever small way, helped you out My Dear One. Your assistance proof reading it sure helped me out a lot. I just had to pull up on the reins and realize that my falling into a pattern of rushing to the bus stop is craziness, and I wanted to slow down. Now, having successfully done it one time, I know I can do it and plan again to repeat today’s scenario. Thank you for your observations. Much Love .. Cap

Thanks so much Andrej. Happy you liked the post about my making a decision, Just For Today I will NOT to rush to catch a bus. Smiles on fixing the editor size of my typed letters. Post card came day before yesterday. Thanks! Those stamps are so gorgeous. Serendipitously, I just now finished reading an essay on Patience. Notice that the 1st few letters are almost the same as in Patti — to whom I say, “Hello!”

Thanks so much for your comment Linda. Also happy to read you received a post card. A wonder they get where they are meant to go isn’t it? Someone should write a book .. Zen and the Art of Patience. It needs to begin with a chapter on being patient with ones self. We all are our own worst critics. Smiles from Patti and me .. Cap
