Today marks the 244th Anniversary of the founding of the United States Marine Corps.

I could write a never ending series of posts about things that happen in literally micro-seconds that change our lives forever.
One of them happened to me in January of 1958.
In January of 1958, I don’t have the exact day and date, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. January 29th (this date I have forever) 1958 was my pay entry base date.
This one single action on my part I consider to have easily been the most important decision I have made in my entire life to this instant in time. For one thing, I enlisted I did not seek out a commission. I’d successfully completed 3-1/2 years at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and could have opted to apply for Officer Candidate School (OCS). I did not want the commissioned officer avenue. I wanted to just be an enlisted man.
And I most certainly got-what-I-wanted. I could write more than a few chapters about this grand, life changing, life enhancing, adventure.

Happy Birthday celebration to My Marine! You HAVE always maintained that joining the Marines was pivotal in your life and I have heard MANY stories about your experiences.
