NOV 24, 19 .. A DAY OFF (OR SO I THOUGHT / PLANNED)
It continues to be on the ‘cold side’ here. We are having night time low temperatures in the -17°F temperature range.
It takes until high noon for it to get up to 0°F and above.
My room is chilly BUT I sleep as warm as a bug-in-a-rug because I have a seriously warm blanket coupled with a down comforter I have under the blanket.
Translation : I like to stay in my warm toasty bed and write YOU post cards.
And in an early morning phone call to Patti I told her I was staying IN all day.
I then texted Patti about 11am this morning:
I’M REPEATING MYSELF.. NO WAY NO POSSIBILITY AM I GOING DOWNTOWN BY BUS.. You never know but I doubt anyone is going to call me to drive me! Much love Cap
Have you all heard this one : God laughs at our plans.
At 1:30pm this afternoon I walked to my local post office to mail ten post cards.
What do I see on the postal clerks desk? Five of MY post cards I took to her last THURSDAY. They should have gone out Thursday evening at 1700 hours. Or Friday for sure. Now it’s SUNDAY!
I was stunned. I was so stunned that I gave to her the ten post cards I’d taken and smiling walked back to my apartment.
Then I got-to-thinking. I’ll go over tomorrow at 1700 hours to see IF the (now) fifteen post cards went out.
Translation : I will spend the rest of today (Sunday) and all day tomorrow (Monday) thinking about these post cards.
Translation : This is crazy-making for me.
Today, at 1428 hours (2:30pm) I texted Patti:
Hi. I’M (1) ON A BUS (2) WITH FIFTEEN POST CARDS TO MAIL (3) & WILL MEET BAYAR @ THE BLUE SKY TO VISIT/DINE. I HAD TO DO this! No choice! LvU Cap
I’d gotten home and talked to Patti who was also shocked. I did NOT know what I was going to do so the above text was a surprise.
What I did was I immediately (the local post office closes at 1400 hours / 2pm Sunday) dashed back to get all fifteen of my post cards from the postal clerk so I could take them downtown to mail them at the Main Post Office in the box that says International Mail.
And?
I met Bayar for a great 2-hour lunch and farewell visit.
And?
The bus ride home was as-good-as-it-gets.
All in a crazy-making day.
Smiling Cap and Patti who lived this with me from afar.

Brrr with your weather there! I WAS stunned beyond words when you told me on the phone that your five postcards from three days ago were still on the desk of the postal clerk. I was glad when you said you had retrieved those and ten more you had written, and made the trek to the main post office downtown. I do believe we can have more confidence they WILL go out from there and not stay on a desk. Nice visit and meal with Bayar, and a bus-ride-home that was as good as it gets … good, good, good! Smiles and hugs, Patti
You and I were both were stunned when I saw my five cards from Thursday still there Sunday. I sure did the right thing going back and getting all fifteen post cards and then heading downtown to mail them AND then have a great goodbye visit with Bayar all in one trip down and back. I pulled that together quickly. Much Love .. Cap
