NOV 29, 19 .. NO BLACK-FRIDAY IN MONGOLIA .. IT WAS WHITE

I think that our phenomenon known as Black-Friday exists only in the United States. For years I did not understand that the word black in the term Black-Friday meant the day all merchants would be in-the-black in terms of making a profit for the day’s sales.

Live and learn Captain.

MY ADDRESS IN ULAANBAATAR

I do NOT expect anyone reading this to understand it unless they are Mongolians. So don’t fret if you haven’t a clue. Smiles .. Cap

Gord 48025, you asked me to give you the address of my apartment here in Ulaanbaatar.

I have to chuckle Gord. Watch what you ask for, what you get may not be what you expected. Here is my local Mongolian Address Gord.

БАЯНГОЛ  ДYYРЭГ

10-Р ХОРООЛОЛ

8-Р БАЙР

Now to make matters worse (for both of us Gord, me as well as you) below is the address in ‘conversational’ Mongolian

БАЯНГОΛ  ДVVРЭГ  First, the cyrillic Л up above is replaced with an upside down letter V as in Λ. Then to further confound me the cyrillic YY are replaced with VV.

БАЯНГОЛ  ДYYРЭГ  The Л and the YY are proper.

БАЯНГОΛ  ДVVРЭГ   The Λ and the VV will not be found in their alphabet.

10-Р ХОРООЛОЛ        The Л is proper.

10-Р ХОРООΛОΛ         The Λ will not be found in their alphabet.

8-Р БАЙР                        The last word(s) is letter perfect.

Today was a very busy day for me. I arose earlier than usual to attend my morning meeting (8AM to 8:45AM).  Then after the meeting, I immediately took a bus downtown to mail post cards and purchase additional post cards and stamps, add time to my two cell phones, do some shopping, and return home on the bus. We had some snow and that made it beautiful and dangerously slippery at the same time.

My time here is now getting short. One week from today, Friday the 6th of December, I fly to Seoul, South Korea.

I have never had ANY interest in Black Friday. I make a point of NOT going into any store on Black Friday, or, for that matter, this whole weekend. Ergo, what the meaning of the Black in Black Friday was never on my radar. Now I know. Your Mongolian address is mind boggling. Nice to see the snow .. wish we had some here in Anchorage. It was 40F again today. Yes, your time there in Mongolia is down to just days now .. and then .. and then .. you will be here on December 14th!! Yea!!!! Smiles and love, Patti

How fun YOU did not know what the black in the phrase Black-Friday meant. All for-profit firms want to be-in-the-Black when it comes to taking their financial inventory. Yes my Ulaanbaatar address is something else isn’t it? I understand what it means.

Within Ulaanbaatar, I am located in the Bayangol (БАЯНГОЛ ДYYРЭГ) District. Within the Bayangol District, I am in the 10th Micro (10-Р ХОРООЛОЛ) District. I then am in Building 8 (8-Р БАЙР). Too much fun. Much Love. Cap

I always wondered about Black Friday myself.

Another subject: please check your emails for news from me. There are 3 of them, the earliest Nov 22, possibly in spam – I’ve ended up with a weird attachment to my address (it refers to Dropbox)

WOW! You, along with Patti, did not know what the black in Black-Friday stood for. Yes Yes and YES. I’ve gotten some e-mails with reference to Dropbox. Without looking further, I have indicated they were spam. WOW! What gives anyway? I’ll see if they are in trash. Thanks for the heads-up on this. I wonder how you became aware of this yourself. Cap
