MAR 6, 20 .. WE ARE SAFELY IN LOMPOC, CALIFORNIA
Patti and I left Victorville at 10:45am this morning and arrived in Lompoc, California, at 3:25pm this afternoon driving 237 miles.
We missed a critical turn in the Palmdale area (red balloon) that cost us probably 45 minutes of lost time and maybe 20 miles of driving. We both ‘sensed’ things were not correct as we were heading North through Palmdale seeing road signs that Lancaster was upcoming so I pulled into a Carl’s Junior restaurant, went inside to use their facilities and asked a man standing in line to place his order how to get to Ventura, California. He whipped out his smart phone and (as he was bringing up the route for me to see) told me that we had to go back South to Highway 14 towards Los Angeles.
It was a bingo and we got here safely in spite of just a little Friday afternoon traffic in both Ventura and Santa Barbara.
So far it looks like we have excellent WiFi here in our Lompoc motel.

Ah, Cap. You will learn how handy your smart phone is.
Oh no doubt at all about that. My smart phone thinks he is a hot shot. It is fun now that I can navigate the Android operating system on my Samsung A10 how nimble I am on other people’s Android devices. Oh yes. Smiling .. Cap (I can’t speak for Patti on this topic)
Smart phones can access maps. Maybe you can get a GPS device for your vehicle. Tells you where to go, the speed limit where you happen to be. Very useful and plugs into your lighter socket. Check it out–on your smart phone. The phone can research local stores and tell you what’s in stock.
Some four years (or more) ago, we got the top-of-the-line, very-best, Garmin GPS device that was available at that time. We got it mounted on our dash and off we went. It said turn left and we did just that (turned left). A hour later we learned (when we crossed into another state) we should have turned right NOT left. Back to Costco for a full refund. Nuts! Yes smart phones can access maps and work wonders. I’ve seen it before many times. Smiling. Cap and Patti
