MAY 25, 20 .. A PAUSE ON MEMORIAL DAY TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO DIED IN SERVICE
Just when you think that you know something!
As I began to write this Post, I first went looking down my List Of Categories under HOLIDAYS for the proper subtitle (Memorial Day). I could not find Memorial Day.
I then looked back into past years for Posts written on the last Monday in May (MAY 29, 12 / MAY 25, 15 / MAY 29th and 30th, 2017 / MAY 28, 18) and found no category under HOLIDAYS titled Memorial Day.
So I added Memorial Day as a category under HOLIDAYS.
I went to Wikipedia and did a little research about Memorial Day and learned that Memorial Day honors those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
In the four previous years (MAY 29, 12 / MAY 25, 15 / MAY 29th and 30th, 2017 / MAY 28, 18) that I’ve done a Memorial Day Post, I (incorrectly) stated that Memorial Day honors those who have served.
I had originally titled this Post :
MAY 25, 20 .. A PAUSE ON MEMORIAL DAY TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO SERVED
Now I have the above title correct.
I think, I hope, that the very least we can do on Memorial Day is to:
PAUSE TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO DIED IN SERVICE
Say a Prayer of Thanks to them.
It has been touching to see on Televison some of the acts of kindness shown at various Military Cemeteries as volunteers have placed flags and crosses by the graves of those who died in service.
