OCT 25 / OCT 26, 20 .. A LITTLE SPORTS .. A LITTLE LOOK AT AUTUMN / WINTER

Sunday, October 25th, 2020.

Watching (and actually enjoying) sporting events requires years of practice with two things, acceptance and gratitude.

Acceptance ?? Yes !! Acceptance !!

Step One. You MUST ACCEPT THE FACT that, never-ever-in-this-lifetime, will ‘your-team’ always prevail (win the event).

Gratitude ?? Yes !! Gratitude !!

Step Two. You MUST ACCEPT THE FACT that, over your lifetime, ‘your team’ HAS INDEED WON A BIG GAME (maybe even two or three or more). So you need to focus your mind on, and be grateful for, all of the wonderful and happy and satisfying sporting events that you have experienced in your lifetime.

Step Three. More Gratitude. IF your team was IN-the-game, HAD-chances-to-prevail, and did not, be grateful they were indeed IN-the-game.

Game 5 of the 2020 World Series.

Los Angeles Dodgers (LA) vs Tampa Bay Rays (TB). We are rooting for TB to win. In game 5, TB LOST to LA 4 – 2. Lost Opportunity : In the 4th inning, TB had a runner on third base with NO outs. TB did not score him. Two Lost Opportunities : In BOTH the 8th and the 9th innings, TB had runners on base and did not score one run.

Gratitude. Game 4 was one of the once-in-this-lifetime games that we were thrilled over. Thank You Tampa Bay.

National Football League .. Seattle Seahawks vs Arizona Cardinals.

‘Our Seattle Seahawks’ had-this-game in-hand. They folded big time and Arizona tied the game. Then (with no time left) Arizona kicked for a game-winning field goal AND MISSED. Overtime. Seattle won-the-toss. Seattle moved down the field but did-not-do-the-deal. Seattle did not get a touchdown nor a field goal. As a matter of fact, in scoring position, Seattle was intercepted. Arizona now had the ball and scored a field goal. Arizona WON the game.

Gratitiude. Even with this loss, Seattle remains in first place in its division.

Gratitude.’‘OUR Mayo Clinic’ is IN Arizona. Our winter-home is in Arizona. So ‘our’ Arizona Cardinals won the game.

Monday, October 26th, 2020.

Autumn is failing in its struggle with the oncoming Winter.

At 10am tjhis morning (notice how dark it is at 10am) we awoke to some new snow.

Sad BUT such are the cycles of life. Patti’s wonderful / fantastic flowers of the Summer of 2020 are now officially ‘history’.

This (still dark) afternoon you can see that the snow is indeed fading-from-the-scene.

Looking out at our parking lot at 10am.

The snow is melting this afternoon.

Looking out up the street at 10am.

In the below photo (to the left and amidst the trees and hard to see) is our first snowman. Do you see him?

This afternoon he was still standing.

Oops ! He’s lost his ‘carrot-nose’.

Gratitude. For an absolutely wonderful summer 2020 and also for an absolutely wonderful Autumn 2020 (short but sweet).

Gratitude. I am pretty well able to make-do with my right arm, but it’s still a challenge yet I have put this post together.

Smiles and Joy and Hugs

  1. Gullible

Yeah, Russell’s magic went AWOL in this game. Three interceptions!!! We’ll never know why. I guess only he and the team and coaches know why. Ah, well. Still in first place.

No snow here, but the snow line coming resolutely down the mountain side.

Thanks Gullible. Yep. Arizona missed the (second attempt) field goal for a win. Then Seattle won-the-toss in overtime and had first shot at the game. And fell flat. As I said, Arizonia is kind of ‘our second team’ because of the Mayo Clinic and our time in Phoenix. Cap and Patti
