JAN 11, 21 .. WHAT A ‘ FOOTBALL WEEKEND ‘ IT WAS FOR US

We enjoyed all, or part of, six (count them : 6) NFL Playoff games this past weekend, three Saturday and three yesterday. Oh My! The most NFL Playoff games in one weekend in NFL history to this date. Usually there are four games, two each weekend day. Not this year. Due to COVID 19 two extra teams were admitted to the playoff schedule.

NO !

I am NOT going to even begin to ‘bore you’ with details EXCEPT for one game.

Last night, the Cleveland (Ohio) Browns beat the Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) Steelers 48 – 37 in the final playoff game of the weekend (this is important) played IN Pittsburgh the home of the Steelers. Whodda Thunk this would ever have happened?

It has been seventeen (17) years since Cleveland last won a game in Pittsburgh. Big Ben Roethlisberger, the Steeler’s quarterback, had a record of 23 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie in his 26 games against the Browns. The last time Cleveland won a playoff game was back in 1994. Cleveland had not even been in the playoffs since 2002.

Game Time : Cleveland kicked off to Pittsburgh. 1st and 10 at the Steelers 25 yard line. First play of the game. Amazing ! One snap of the football and 14 seconds later the Cleveland Browns led the Steelers 7 – 0. By the end of the 1st quarter it was Cleveland 28-O Pittsburgh. The last time a team has scored 28 points in the 1st quarter of a playoff game was in 1969! 51 years ago!

At the half it was Cleveland 35 – 1O Pittsburgh.

The second half was more of a nail biting event for Patti and me. The Steelers ‘roared’ back scoring 13 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter BUT Cleveland held the Steelers off in the 4th quarter matching the Steelers 14 points with 13 points of their own.

Cleveland, Ohio, has a very special place in our hearts so we were thrilled with the game, one of those 1 in every 50 sporting events you treasure for the rest of your lifetime.

Of the 6 games, ‘our’ teams won 4 of the games. 4 out of 6 is not bad Charlie Brown!

And?

Two more ‘winter photos’ of Irkutsk, Russian Siberia, sent via Whats App to my smartphone by our friend Sergey.

Both of the below photos were snapped showing the Angara River at locations we walked along many MANY times.

Smiles and Hugs..

That was an amazing game and I couldn’t stop smiling at the thought of the Browns beating the Steelers. Finally!! They have been playing like rockstars. While I like the Chiefs, I really hope the Browns can go all the way.

The first snap-from-center went over Big Ben’s head and the battle was on with the Browns getting a touchdown in 14 seconds. What a stunner. “At last!” say the Cleveland Browns fans. It will be fun to see the game (Browns at the Chiefs) tomorrow. Smiles. Cap and Patti
