APR 8, 21 .. FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH .. OUR DAY TRIP TO BISBEE, ARIZONA

Yesterday, we drove from Green Valley, Arizona (where we are staying) over (heading East on I-10) to Benson, Arizona and then down (heading due South on Arizona 80) to Bisbee, Arizona. We covered 199 miles total and were on the road for just over four hours.

The Highlight of the Day ? Read on Friend’s of Bill !

Back in March of 1989 (yes thirty two years ago) while attending meetings in every State, I attended an 8pm meeting in Benson, Arizona. It was one I won’t soon forget. One man, was sitting by himself, reading his Big Book, keeping-the-door-open to any and all who happend his way. So the  two of us had a meeting. He said the Benson fellowship was small and they were going to have an Easter Sunday social event. I gave him a $20 bill and wished the Benson fellowship a Happy Easter.

We got to the noon meeting at the Benson Sobriety House at 11:40am and enjoyed some pre-meeting fellowshipping. Then eleven of us had a meeting. Everyone (100%) wore masks and the chairs were distanced apart. It came down very well and made the day for us.

A very pleasant and functional club indeed.

After the Benson noon meeting, we drove South and toured Bisbee. We did not park and walk around but simply explored via our auto. Bisbee is a very interesting place and we enjoyed seeing it but doubt we’ll ever return.

We got back to our hotel in time to watch Jeopardy and Guest Host Aaron Rodgers. Then to an evening meeting here in Green Valley.

A good day indeed.

Gay and I toured Bisbee a few years ago, also by car. Admired the big open pit mine downtown; great colors. Also did Tombstone that day. Gay’s cousin, Barry, who lives in Tucson, was our guide.
