DEC 5, 14 .. A SOLUTION TO A PROBLEM ..

All day every day all over Hong Kong I see people snapping SELFIES of themselves.

A selfie is a self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a hand-held digital camera or camera phone. Selfies are often shared on social networking services such as Facebook,Instagram, or Twitter. They are usually flattering and made to appear casual. Most selfies are taken with a camera held at arm’s length or pointed at a mirror, rather than by using a self-timer.

So here we go.  Cap takes a SELFIE of Cap.

“Oh CAPTAIN!” says Patti who likes me WITH HAIR!

I shot about ten (10) selfies before I got the right combination. It really takes some doing to center yourself both horizontally and vertically in the photo frame.  The kids do this so often that they make-it-look easy.

To keep my hair short I have a small battery-powered electric clipper with me as a critial and a vital Bobbsey!

And now TO THE PROBLEM! Above .. to the right of the clipper .. is a small .. almost empty plastic bottle of oil.  The oil is critical to keep the clipper-teeth (see below) lubricated and functioning properly! I thought I could easily purchase a small bottle of oil here in Hong Kong.

WRONG CAPTAIN! Go to jail do NOT pass go! It seems to me that no where in all of Hong Kong exists .. for sale .. a small can of 3 in 1 oil.

To make matters worse I could NOT adequately nor effectively explain to the store clerks what I wanted.  They could not seem to understand the word ‘oil’. Go Figure.

A friendly lady who I learned speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin AND English overhead my most recent foray into finding a small can of ‘oil’ and she spoke up with VIGOR!

“The gentleman wants some WD-40!” ..

“Ah-h-h So-o-o! WD-40!” .. the store clerk excitedly squeaked to me as she almost instantly handed me a small can of WD-40 that she had at the check out counter at ARM’s REACH.  Lordy it must be extremely popular!

“NO! I blurted out.  WD-40 comes in an aersol can that is not welcome in airline baggage and sprays so much with each blast that it would be a mess on my clipper-teeth.”

“BUT my clipper-teeth fairly screamed out at me .. DAD we have absolutely got to have a lubricant. Dad we cannot run dry for the next eight months!”

Aren’t all of you excited and happy and yes .. joyous .. that none-of-you are constantly having a dialogue with in-animate objects!

So I purchased a small aersol can of WD-40 figuring this is a no-win situation but it is stil far better than running my clipper-teeth dry.

“Hi Dad! Here I am and I am ready to help you out Dad.  See my little spray tube .. you can spray your clipper-teeth precisely using my spray-tube.” /signed/ Little WD-40 can.

“How about the airlines and luggage little aersol can?”.. “Sorry Dad I can only do what I can do.”

Then .. after using the WD-40 to actually lubricate the clipper-teeth .. I came up with an absolutely tremendous BRAIN STORM! I decided to find a small bottle and to then fill the small bottle with WD-40 by spraying the WD-40 into it until the WD-40 can is empty! Problem solved .. I will then have a nice small bottle to dispense the WD-40 and I will have NO aersol-can issues with the airlines.

“Dennis MY PHARMACIST!! What have you got for me!”  .. “Cap let me ponder on this!”

“Cap get a small bottle of eye drops .. empty the liquid out and use the empty bottle to fill with the WD-40.” .. “Dennis YOU D’ MAN!”

To add one more positive to this brightening situation .. I have an absolute penchant for collecting small bottles and using them for other purposes than for what they were designed to do.

As you can all see below .. these are all small bottles.  They could be large bottles for all you know in the above photos since they are shot very close-up.

So I emptied them out.

And little by little .. it took a few hours because the WD-40 comes out with a blast and becomes a micro-foam that I had to let slowly (and I mean it truly was SLOWLY because it was a really fine foam) settle into a liquid.

VOILA!

I have enough WD-40 to last me for years.  The clipper-teeth want about one drop per lubrication.

As I write this it is early in the morning of Saturday the 6th of December 2014. TODAY IS MOVING DAY!

Yet another new experience for me coming up today as I move into another mansion! I also have an appointment with my Chiropractor who is working with my Acupuncturist to put me back together.
