FEB 19, 17 .. A SHORT ROAD TRIP .. LAGUNA BEACH CALIFORNIA

We remain ‘home-based’ in Victorville California (upper red balloon) where we have been since Tuesday the 7th of February.

Our planned two-day trip to Laguna Beach (lower red balloon) involved first driving to Chino California (center red balloon) and checking into our Motel in Chino. After checking into our motel, we then drove to Laguna Beach California.

In addition to just wanting to get out onto the road, we wanted to visit The Canyon Club in Laguna Beach. Patti had never been to this most famous club.

So out and off we went last Thursday the 16th. We left Victorville at 11AM and, driving 52-miles, arrived into Chino at 12 Noon. After ‘settling into’ our motel, we left Chino at 12:45PM and, driving 38-miles, arrived into Laguna Beach at 2:05PM.

As you look at all of the below photos, please notice the weather. Thursday was a magnificent day. Brilliant sun, bright blue skies. An absolutely perfect day.

Below are a few photos of The Canyon Club.

Ruby’s special romaine salad with julienne apple slices, candied pecans, bleu cheese crumbles, dried cranberries, golden raisins, and baked chicken with pomegranate vinaigrette. Oh My! It was delicious!

We had a great day. One of those as-good-as-it-gets days.

And Then ??

Do all of you remember the beautiful day you just saw in the above photos?

When Patti and I got back to our motel in Chino at about 11PM Thursday night, Patti rather casually turned on the television to catch some local news.

All three news channels, ABC, NBC and CBS, were showing weather predictions that stated one of the most severe storms in 7-years was about to slam into the greater Los Angeles area commencing Friday morning. Up to 10-inches of rain was being predicted with winds up to 70 miles-per-hour.

I looked at Patti and said,

“Let’s get back to Victorville and I mean NOW!

We packed out of our motel and were back to our Victorville ‘home-away-from-home’ by 12:30AM. Driving conditions bordered on being perfect. The roads were dry and traffic was moving-at-the-limit.

As I write these words on Sunday, the storm that slammed into the Los Angeles Metro Area on Friday the 17th continuing into Saturday the 18th of February 2017 was all, and more, than predicted.

A driver here in Victorville died (drown) when his car was submerged in a sudden river that overwhelmed his car.

Sign us as pensive, we sure dodged-a-bullet !

Hi Cap ! Hi Patti ! Just thought I’d say hi. Typing this looking out the window onto 11 Mile Rd @ the R.Oak library. Glad you beat the storm out west. Weather here still very good, has to be one of the mildest Februarys ever.
