JUN 12, 19 .. BUDDHISM HERE IN RUSSIA .. MY EXPERIENCE

Too funny. Often, in fact more often than not, when I begin a Post, I do not have a title. Today I knew what I was going to share about and the title just leapt out at me as I opened up this page.

Then, I went to Wikipedia and .. Voila .. I found the exact same title to explore :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism_in_Russia

So now you have, in the above link, all you need to know about Buddhism in Russia.

My most recent contribution to the World of Buddhism in Russia will be found over on blogspot :

Short, to the point, and  I hope sweet.

When I think of Russia – I think of the Orthodox Church as being a “cousin” of the Roman Catholic tradition I grew up in. But, as you are in Asia, it makes sense that the Buddhist Creed has a following there. Glad that they made a comeback after the U.S.S.R. “fell”.

Tom, the official name of the Eastern / of the Orthodox Church is : The Orthodox Catholic Church. They seem to me to be closer than cousins Tom. The history of the Orthodox Catholic Church dates back to the 800’s and culminated in year 1054 when the Eastern and the Western Churches formally split apart. I’ve seen a bit of both and let-me-tell-you Tom, the Orthodox procedures take Roman Catholicism to an entirely different and higher level of worship. So too do the physical churches. It is something else Tom.

KNOW that we have very formally lit candles for you and for Ginny and for others close to us here in our local Orthodox Catholic Church.

      Smiles from Patti and me.
