Just yesterday, our great and our good friend Gullible submitted the below comment:

Cap ChastainPost author Our (originally made last December 2019) Motel ‘6’ reservation was : Check In Friday January 24th and Check Out Friday February 7th (14 nights). When I checked in on Friday January 24th I was told we ONLY had a one (1) week reservation Checking in Friday January 24th and Checking Out Friday January 31st. With Patti’s surgery on Friday January 31st we did NOT WANT TO BE CHECKING OUT that day. The motel agreed (after much quiet discussions we two) to let us stay Friday night January 31st and checking out Saturday February 1st. With Patti recovering and the Super Bowl on Sunday February 2nd we did NOT WANT TO check out on Saturday February 1st. After A LOT OF QUIET NEGOTIATING the motel management finally willingly agreed to honor our original reservation (Checking In Friday the 24th and out Friday the 7th).
So the one (1) week ‘extension’ was only getting back to our original reservation and not a new reservation.
Going up to Kingman on February 7th was ‘in case’ we were finished at the Mayo Clinic which we are (at least for now). Do you follow? Smiles .. Cap

The subtitle to this post, DRAMA, is accurate. We came here to Phoenix to get medical attention at the world famous Mayo Clinic. And when I checked into the Motel ‘6’ and was told that we only had a one (1) week reservation when I had a formal (from Motel ‘6’ and not Priceline or Expedia etc et al) reservation for two (2) weeks it was DRAMA for me. Neither Patti nor I wanted to have to move the next Friday the 31st of January because we knew we would be having a full week (which we did) of medical appointments and then it would be Super Bowl Sunday. We wanted to sit tight for two (2) full weeks.
And now (to quote the beloved Mr. Paul Harvey) :
THE REST OF THE STORY
For fifty five (55) years and counting, I personally have been staying at Motel ‘6’ properties. My first visit was in 1965 in Riverside, California, when it cost $6 dollars (thus its name Motel ‘6’) plus 24¢ to make it $6.24. Never have I encountered this problem.
It took my very best negotiating skills to, first get to stay put Friday night the 31st after Patti’s surgery, and then be able to stay put to watch the Super Bowl last Sunday.
Here is what happened.
At 12 midnight, Friday the 31st of January 2020, the Motel ‘6’ at 1915 East Apache Blvd, Tempe, Arizona, became The Apache Inn.
This is why (1) neither The Apache Inn nor (2) the Motel ‘6’ World Headquarters showed our reservation going forward to February 7th because The Apache Inn was not in the Motel ‘6’ chain of motels.
As the Apache Inn, commencing February 1st, the property owed us nothing. Further the cost of our room jumped to $166 per night from the $70.29 Motel ‘6’ nightly rate. There was NO WAY I was going to pay $166 a night.
Luckily, I had good personal chemistry with the front desk main employee and with the General Manager of the property.
So there you have it..
