JUN 6, 22 .. OUR VERY OWN, VERY PERSONAL, D-DAY .. PART 3

In real life, in real time, it is now Wednesday, it is now June the 8th, it is now 1:32am (0132 military hours) in the early morning here in Anchorage, Alaska. Somehow, was it with God’s assistance??, we survived the trip home. Below (for our own memories) will now go into some details to finalize this most challenging trip.

During the entire trip, starting Monday at 4:50am when we left for the Detroit airport to begin the trip home, both Patti and I were running on empty in terms of sleep. To have had only a few minutes of sleep (say 120 minutes) before setting out for Alaska, we began tired and sleep deprived because of having had Covid-19 since (at least) May 19th and all the activitiy to get ready to return home to Alaska.

We ended PART 2 as follows :

And here we sit and I have to end PART 2 as I ended PART 1 ..

After much hand wringing and debate, Patti and I have decided to wait to see IF the 9:01pm flight happens.

More to Follow ?? Only The Shadow Knows.

I wrote the above after having spent the entire day in the Detroit, Michigan, airport because our flight had been totally interrupted because of mechanical difficulties with our airplane. One delay after another.

I will now do some condensing !

10:03pm (2203 military hours) FINALLY !! We were ON the airplane and we LEFT THE BOARDING GATE.

10:25pm (2225 hours) we LIFTED OFF from the Detroit Airport and headed West for Seattle, Washington.

Tuesday, June 7th, 2022

2:37am (11:37pm Seattle) we TOUCHED DOWN in Seattle.

For the next (challenging, VERY CHALLENGING) 2 hours and 23 minutes we got off our plane and began to negotiate with Delta Airlines as to : What do we do now Delta Airlines? YOU Delta Airlines caused us to miss our connecting flight to Anchorage! We’re exhaused. What next? God (not Patti or me) knows why it took several LONG hours for us to get into a hotel.

5am (2am Seattle) we crashed into bed in our Seattle hotel.

7:30am (4:30am Seattle) it was now time for us to get up out of bed (after 2-1/2 hours of sleep), and to get downstairs to catch the 5am (Seattle) airport shuttle bus to get to the Seattle airport to get our (7:30am Seattle) plane and fly to Anchorage.

This is no free ride. We then had to do the entire airport scene. Find our way from the shuttle bus into the Seattle airport terminal. Find Delta Airlines. Get our boarding passes. Get through security. Get to our departure gate. Wait. Board our flight. Wait some more.

10:49am (7:49am Seattle) LIFT OFF and head (a three plus hour flight) for Anchorage, Alaska.

1:56pm (9:56am Anchorage) TOUCH DOWN home in Anchorage, Alaska.

Got it loyal and faithful followers : From 4:50am Monday until 1:56pm Tuesday (33 hours) we were en transit !

Pete, Pete, Pete .. THANKS SO VERY MUCH PETE !!!

Pete MET US AT THE Anchorage airport, driving our Chevrolet Suburban, got us home to our Condo. Pete (I was so tired I could hardly function) got all of our baggage into our Condo.

And?

Immediately, no stopping to rest let alone eat or sleep, Out and Off we went running. We drove Pete back to his home. En route I got our WiFi and online Television up and running. We went to Walmart to pick up some prescriptions.

And I will continue this in the next Post.

Over and Out until the next Post, June 7th 2022.

Cap and Patti
