As I slowly ( very VERY slowly\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/span>) <\/span><\/span><\/span>work my way through a minimal 4-hour jet lag I continue to focus my attention upon my trip to Hong Kong via Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Is this entire adventure a God-Calling?<\/p>\n

Only time will tell. At this point I haven’t a ‘clue-in-a-carload’.<\/p>\n

All I KNOW\u00a0at this writing\u00a0is: When I attempted to schedule a very straight-forward direct trip from Seattle to Hong Kong leaving at the end of September, a process that should have taken a few minutes, the process lasted one full hour and I was routed from Seattle to Dubai and from Dubai to Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

The below map shows a direct flight, Seattle (right red balloon<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span>) to Hong Kong (left red<\/em><\/strong> balloon<\/em><\/strong><\/span>). Get on the plane in Seattle and fly West across the Pacific to Hong Kong about 12-hours.<\/p>\n\n

What I ended up getting after my one full-hour of waiting as my Alaska Airlines representative was putting the Seattle to Hong Kong itinerary together was the below.<\/p>\n\n

Fly East (see the above map again) on September 30th from Seattle (left red balloon<\/strong><\/span>) to Dubai (center red balloon<\/strong><\/span>) a 14+ hour flight. Then I had to take a 3-day layover in Dubai\u00a0because there were no Dubai \/ Hong Kong flights October 1st. Then continue East from Dubai to Hong Kong (right red balloon<\/strong><\/span>) a 7+ hour flight.<\/p>\n

Health\u00a0\/\u00a0Money \/ Guts-To-Run. The three MUST HAVE<\/em> ingredients that your Captain has been blessed with.<\/p>\n

IF not daily then ‘almost daily’ I have been fidgeting*<\/strong><\/span> and I have been fussing*<\/span> with the concept of a ‘mere three days’ in Dubai and environs (Abu Dhabi see right<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>red balloon<\/strong><\/span> below) or out in the desert of the UAE see left red balloon<\/strong><\/span> below.<\/p>\n

*<\/strong><\/span>Fidgeting and Fussing – Calling Alaska Airlines attempting to get a longer stay in Dubai. ALWAYS being told after a long wait .. “Sir Emirates have no seats\u00a0available\u00a0in either business or coach class for the rest of October.”<\/p>\n\n

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) does have its UP SIDE!<\/p>\n

At o’dark o’clock this morning I made yet another call in this series of OCD inquiries to Alaska Airlines and voila I got MY BING BINGO\u00a0<\/em>!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After yet another long telephone wait my Alaska Airlines lady said to me on the phone:<\/p>\n

“Sir I have a business class seat on Emirates leaving Dubai on Saturday the 22nd of October. Do you want that seat?”<\/p>\n

“Oh YES! Grab it Maureen!”<\/p>\n

So now I have a full 22-days to find out why I am going to be in the United Arab Emirates and environs\u00a0red balloon<\/strong><\/span> below.<\/p>\n\n

And ‘Oh By The Way’ I have booked my hotel Al Farej Opposite Delhi Restaurant Near Al Futtaim Mosque Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for the full 22-days. I will keep this room no matter how much time I spend in Abu Dhabi (and I certainly plan to be in Abu Dhabi for some time) and elsewhere in the UAE (read out in the sand of the dessert).<\/p>\n

And?<\/p>\n
