My reading the below reference does not indicate whether or not the Japanese factored in it being a Sunday and the Unites States forces would be at rest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Attack_on_Pearl_Harbor\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Attack_on_Pearl_Harbor<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When I served in the United States Marine Corps, I had the honor to serve with elder Marines who fought in the horrific Pacific island campaigns against the Japanese. To a man, none of them talked about their service.\u00a0 Oh but we knew what hell they endured.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When I went through Marine Corps Boot Camp, I was taught that we were going to fight for two groups of people. The first group being the Marines who fought for us when we were children and too young to serve in the military. The second group being today&#8217;s children who are too young to enter the military service.<\/p>\n<p>All I can do here is to salute those who fought and the many who died when I, as a child, could do neither. However, when my time to serve appeared, I was proud to do so.
