DECEMBER 7, 1941 – THE DAY OF INFAMY ..<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Eighty One years ago today, December the 7th, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service in a deadly surprise attack, bombed Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii, in an attempt to seriously destroy the influence of the United States Navy in the Pacific Ocean. This surprise attack plunged the United States into WWII and into the war against Japan in the Pacific. It became known as The Day of Infamy.<\/p>\n

This phrase came directly from President Franklin D. Roosevelt in his speech declaring war on Japan, December 8, 1941.<\/p>\n

” Yesterday, December 7, 1941\u2014a date which will live in infamy\u2014the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. “<\/p>\n

All I can do here is to salute those who fought and the many who died when I, as a child, could do neither. However, when my time to serve appeared, I was proud to do so. During my service in the Marine Corps, I was honored to serve with men who fought in the war against the Japanese Army.\u00a0<\/p>\n
