We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again and again and again!

Thanks to each and every one of you who send us photos, make comments on Posts, and support us. Without all of YOUR support, we could not possibly have kept our Web Log (aka Blog) active for all these past years.

So THIS IS your Web Log too!

– – – – – – – –

Well “It” just happened. I have NOT, NOT, NOT, been able log into Yahoo Mail.

Instead of Yahoo Mail I keep getting this message: Web Server Error. Description: The host requested did not return the document correctly.

So what?

So this. All of the photos that I post here on dotnet are first sent from my smart phones to my yahoo email account. Then I download them from my yahoo email account into our laptop and then upload them here into dotnet.

Not being able to access my yahoo email meant that the photos I was planning to use in this Post are not available to me!

Dum De Dum!

To send my smart phone photos from my photo library to Yahoo Mail I use my GMail account.

I successfully signed into GMail and went to my GMail account.

There I accessed my “Sent” file and..

Voila! There were all of the six smart phone photos that I had emailed from GMail to my Yahoo Mail account.

And? I uploaded them from my GMail account into my laptop.

Now I will continue with this Post. I have no way of knowing when Yahoo Mail will again come on-line!

Hi Ginny!

""

Ginny, no other human being has been more helpful assisting me to learn the ins and the outs of modern Information Technology than you!

Ginny has a small cactus plant in her apartment.

Ginny’s Cactus is a Beavertail Cactus (Opuntia Basilaris) or Beavertail Pricklypear, a cactus species found in the southwest United States. It occurs mostly in the Mojave, Anza-Borrego, and Colorado Deserts.

Last year her small cactus bloomed on the day Ginny’s granddaughter was born. And this year it repeated itself.

Ginny was excited and sent us some photos of her “Blooming Cactus Plant”.

Its first flower this season.

ARMED FORCES DAY..

Armed Forces Day is a special holiday for people all over the world to come together and thank the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. First conceived by President Harry S. Truman, the holiday was established in 1949. The creation of a single day celebration for all five branches of the United States military made sense due to its recent unification under the Department of Defense. Today, Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of every May, this year falling on May 18. Be sure to mark your calendar & support our military!

The history of the United States Armed Forces spans over two centuries. The United States rapidly evolved from being a new nation fighting for independence against Great Britain between 1775 and 1783, to fighting in the landmark American Civil War from 1861 to 1865, to proving their valor and strength during World War II, and finally emerging as a world superpower towards the end of the 20th century. The U.S. armed forces comprise five branches of the military: the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard.

The origin of the United States Army dates back to 1775 when the Continental Congress established the Continental Army, Continental Navy, and Continental Marines, commanded and led by General George Washington. This newly assembled military force fought the British during the American Revolutionary War with French soldiers by its side, leading to the Treaty of Paris and its independence. In 1789, the new Constitution delegated the president as the commander in chief of the military, with the authority to create laws, levy taxes, and declare war.

The major wars that the U.S. Army participated in were the Indian Wars of the 1790s, the War of 1812, the American Civil War in 1861, the Spanish-American War of 1898, World Wars I and II in 1917 and 1941 respectively, the Korean War in 1950, and the Vietnam War in 1965. The U.S. military also took part in the Gulf War in 1991 and the war in Afghanistan.

As of 2019, the Armed Forces of America fall under the command of the Department of Defense and the Coast Guard, which is authorized by the Department of Homeland Security.

The President of the United States is the commander in chief and they exercise their authority through the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who supervises combat operations.

The one single best decision of my entire life up to this moment, was enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, January 29th, 1958!

My father was in the Coast Guard. My oldest son the Army. My Youngest son the Air Force. After my time in the Marine Corps I received a commission in the Navy Sea Bees. Our family served in all five branches of the military services. Patti’s father was also in the Navy as was her oldest brother.

SEND AN ELECTRONIC GREETING CARD DAY..

Send an Electronic Greeting Card Day is celebrated annually on May 18. The purpose of this day is to inspire people to send electronic greeting cards. Not only are these digital greeting cards convenient and inexpensive to send, but they are also good for the environment. The use of electronic greeting cards as opposed to paper greeting cards contributes to environmental protection by minimizing the amount of extra paper waste. Since its inception several decades ago, the internet has become an integral part of our daily lives, and sending a personalized e-card is a fun and easy way to convey goodwill.

If you’re reading this article on a computer, a smartphone, or a tablet, then you’re probably already familiar with the concept of electronic greeting cards because they’ve been around for a while now and are here to stay. Electronic greeting cards, sometimes known as e-cards, are widely used these days. They are comparable to traditional greeting cards, with the exception that they are made digitally and sent via email. Though traditionally delivered via email and accessed using a computer, several types of greeting cards are now available for distribution through social media platforms and via smartphones and other mobile devices, among other methods. E-cards can be delivered to a single recipient or a group of recipients at the same time. Customized greeting cards are typically selected from an online inventory and then personalized with photographs, videos, and a message by the sender. The card firm is responsible for delivering the card to the receiver on the sender’s behalf.

Back in the late 1990s, when the majority of Americans were just getting their hands on home computers, you might recall all of the animated greeting cards that were sent out via email. While the low-resolution graphics of those cards may seem dated now, receiving an animated greeting card was a big deal back then.

In late 1994, while researching at the M.I.T. Media Lab, Judith Donath established The Electric Postcard, which was the world’s first website for sending electronic greeting cards. It began slowly, but by the late spring of 1996, more than 1.7 million cards were being sent out worldwide. By this time, several other e-card websites launched shortly after. Over the years, there have been significant modifications to electronic greeting cards with things like Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp stickers now the norm, but the basic premise has remained the same throughout.

How many of you are familiar with the absolutely amazing Jacquie Lawson Greeting Cards?
