Let\u2019s Hug Day on December 3<\/span> celebrates the warmth and comfort of a hug.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Hugs are very versatile. Many of us hug when we wish to share our happiness with family and friends. Hugs are a staple when we are feeling low and need someone to just hold and console us. Hugs are also the perfect reconciliatory gesture when you want to make up with someone after a fight.<\/p>\n

Scientifically, hugs are known to release good hormones that can help lower your blood pressure and stress levels.<\/p>\n

The word \u2018hug\u2019 is thought to come from the Old Norse word \u2018hugga\u2019, which means \u201cto comfort\u201d.<\/p>\n

Other scholars speculate that the word may have originated from the German word \u2018hegen\u2019 that roughly translates to \u2018cherish\u2019 or \u2018foster\u2019.<\/p>\n
