NOV 30, 16 .. TOMORROW IS LEFT HIP REPLACEMENT DAY
I am in the Mayo Clinic Hospital, in Phoenix Arizona. Last Monday the 28th, after flying from Hong Kong to Seattle, laying over in Seattle for 3-hours, then flying to Phoenix Arizona, Patti and I checked into the hotel Patti had set up for us.
I will repeat that. I flew from Hong Kong to Seattle about 12-hours. Laid over in Seattle then flew 3-hours to Phoenix. Do you think I was just a teeny weeny bit tired!
After we checked into our Phoenix hotel, off we went to the Mayo Clinic Hospital Emergency Room. Great way to end up a long day huh?
They admitted me to the hospital after reviewing my situation and shooting about 7 or 8 X-Rays of my left hip and left knee.
En route from Dubai to Hong Kong, while in Hong Kong, en route from Hong Kong to Seattle, I had contacted a terrible case of ‘blast diarrhea’ and I mean a terrible case. I cannot say exactly when it came to visit me.
I was given a serious regimen of antibiotics that have knocked out the diarrhea but I still have some pathogens in my system. Great. All the nursing staff are wearing ‘protective clothing’ to protect themselves from me.
As I write these few words on Wednesday evening the 30th of November my Surgeon, as of this moment, plans a total left hip replacement in the morning.
IF this doesn’t make me think carefully about any future trips to the other side of the World I don’t know what would.
Captain? Don’t tell us you are getting sick and tired of being sick and tired. I am afraid at this moment that is an accurate appraisal.
Still Smiling. Cap
I insisted Patti take the whole day off and sleep and relax. She listened. Patti got here to the hospital about 5pm.

Okay, up and at ’em, now. You’ve been lying in bed entirely too long. Give that new hip a workout, hear?
Thanks Jeanne. Patti and Cap
Day Two of the new you. Head ’em up, move ’em out. Up and down the hallway. Save the stairs for tomorrow.
The stairs are well into the future somewhere I think. Smiles. Cap
