MAR 15, 19 .. YET ANOTHER NEW ADVENTURE IS ABOUT TO UNFOLD .. MEET ЯКУТСК (Yakutsk)

Below we have a map of Russia. The small red balloon on the map below shows Irkutsk (ИРКУТСК), Russian Siberia, where Patti and I are now located.

Below we have another map of Russia showing a second red balloon to the right and above of the first one.

Now let’s pronounce Irkutsk (the lower left red balloon ) with the emphasis on the first syllable IR Kutsk (ИР КУТСК).

Got it? IR Kutsk.

Now we’re going to pronounce the name of the city represented by the upper right red balloon  YA Kutsk (ЯКУТСК).

Next Thursday the 21st of March, Patti and I, along with our host Sergey, are heading for Yakutsk (ЯКУТСК) Russian Siberia, to spend one week visiting with some friends of Sergey and Bill.

Yakutsk is spelled with the Russian cyrillic alphabet’s letter Я as in ЯКУТСК. The cyrillic Я has an ‘ ia ‘ sound. So it’s actually Iakutsk but translates to Yakutsk.

Yakutsk (ЯКУТСК) has the coldest winter temperatures for any major city on Earth. The lowest temperatures ever recorded on the planet outside Antarctica occurred in the basin of the Yana River to the northeast of Yakutsk, making it the coldest major city in the world. Yakutsk and Fairbanks, Alaska, are sister cities.

Just in case you would like to read more about Yakutsk (ЯКУТСК) go to our friend below :

Visiting ЯКУТСК will really broaden our experience here in Russia Siberia.

Smiles from Cap and Hugs from Patti

Too funny! Yakutsk was in the news but you can’t remember why. THANK YOU GULLIBLE for caring enough to leave a comment here on dot.net. THAT means a lot to both of us. At least we know ONE person is following along here with us’ns. I have to tell you, going to Yakutsk is really going to be special. As I look at the map of Russian Siberia, slowly but surely, ‘yours truly’ is getting to know the vast land that it is. Smiles from me and Hugs from Patti.
