MAY 23, 19 .. CHITA, RUSSIAN SIBERIA, BACK TO IRKUTSK, RUSSIAN SIBERIA ..

This very early Thursday morning ( Does 12:15 midnight .. Does 0015 hours count as very early? ) the 23rd of May, 2019, Patti and I boarded the Trans Siberian Express Train in Chita heading West for Irkutsk.

Oh My!

Our amazing Chita Team came to our flat, carried our bags down to their Toyota Land Cruiser, drove us to the Chita Railway Station, carried our bags into the station, waited for our train to be called (you can not go to your train until the Russian railway officials announce you can), carried our bags out to the railway platforms, carried them up the stairs, across the ‘flyover’ and down the stairs ( we can not possibly over emphasize what a big deal their help with our bags and the stairs were ).

They then carried them onto the train, ‘stashed’ them in our compartment, and then waited with us until our train pulled away.

They were ‘with us’ to the instant we slowly rolled away heading to Irkutsk.

Shortly after we were underway, we both went to sleep.

Below are a few random photos we shot en route during the daytime.

THE Trans Siberian Express, Moscow (МОСКВА is pronounced MosK VA) to Vladivostok (ВЛАДИВОСТОК).

Look again at the above photos. These show the ‘normal’ look of the coaches. Red and two tones of gray. Got it?

Now what the below ( colorful ) lad or the below ( colorful ) lady are doing on the trip we have no idea.

Time for a lunch on the Trans Siberian Express.

Russian Borscht Soup with Mashed Potatoes and Chicken Ala King.

Our lunch was really enjoyable. The trip was really enjoyable. Tiring? Yes to some extent. I slept far more than I normally do on such a trip. Patti slept somewhat less than she normally does.

When our train slowly rolled into Irkutsk, almost the instant it came to a complete stop, members of our Irkutsk Team were on our coach taking our luggage, helping us off the train, and taking us back to our Irkutsk home.

Without all of the support we are getting, I am not sure what we would do.
