NOV 4, 19 .. SIDEWALK PAVING AND MORE ASPHALT ROAD PAVING – Part 6

If I accomplish nothing more in this post than to convey the simple fact that the construction activity outside of my window reached a peak this past weekend, I will have accomplished my goal.

I will begin by showing you just two, advanced, sneak-peek-photos, that I took last Friday night. You will see what I mean when I said they were working in the dark of NIGHT.

Before I return to the night time asphalt paving you see above, I want to show a lot of work that preceded it.

Below are two photos that show the previous area where I walked when I’d return from a shopping trip to my local supermarket.

During the past four plus years that I have been walking across this area, I can’t begin to tell you how often I have twisted an ankle or a knee as I negotiated this uneven road surface. I’d lose my focus on where I was stepping and step on a loose rock or into a small pot-hole.

And I thought that all they were going to do in this area was to provide a sidewalk, which of course (as you will see) they now have completed.

The first photo below gives you an idea of what a tangled mess this area has been over the years.

Another view of the corner I show above.

Around the corner we proceed.

The above trench seated the curbing blocks you see below.

Now they begin to attack the previous road surface.

Hauling away the above former road surfacing.

Will you look at the area after the above work was completed!

Looking back from the other direction.

Now comes (finally!) the sidewalk paving in the above area.

In the below photo, on the left side of the street, you can see where the sidewalk is going to be located. There will also be a sidewalk on the right side of the street but they have not yet formed it.

In the extreme lower left corner of the below photo, you can see where the sidewalk is ready to be paved.

And here we go. The first photo below shows the concrete that has been placed in the lower left corner of the above photo.

On the right side of the next two photos you can see the above section of pavement as it wraps around the corner. The ready mix trucks that are tag-teaming with each other.

Around the above corner and up the street we proceed. Just look at the beautiful new sidewalk.

The next photo below was taken at the far end of the above stretch of pavement where it turns left around the far corner.

Now we turn around and look back down the street at the newly paved sidewalk.

On the left side of the above and below photos, you can see where the sidewalk will be on that side of the street.

Below are two photos showing the concrete being placed for the sidewalk on the left above.

The below photo looks behind the concrete finisher in the above two photos.

In the below photo, notice yellow multi-purpose grader at the far end of the street.

He was very busy cleaning up a bit of a mess around the below entrance to a building.

Below you can see how they paved the entire area.

This paving nicely ‘cleaned-up’ this  area.

“Dad? Am I ever going to be paved Dad?” Now we will look at another section of sidewalk that has been waiting to be paved for several weeks.

Looking down from my window.

At the bottom of the above and below photos, it is the section of sidewalk that will complete the sidewalk going up the left side of the street in the below photo.

It will complete this section of the sidewalk.

“Oh Dad! Has MY ready mix truck finally arrived Dad?”

Yes indeed it has arrived.

Over this past several weeks, I have gotten-to-know, on a very informal basis, some of the equipment operators as well as a fair number of others. Below is one of my favorite pals.

This entire section of sidewalk is now complete.

Around the corner we go.

There is my pal, all business and I mean hard-at-work.

In one word, this is one ‘backbreaking’ job.

The joint-was-jumping this past Saturday.

Looking down at the finished sidewalk from my window.

Oh My! The Time Has Come To Call This Post Complete. I never got back to the night time asphalt paving last Friday night.

So I’ll sign off with..

See you all in : SIDEWALK PAVING AND MORE ASPHALT ROAD PAVING – Part 7

All of this work has REALLY spruced up the neighborhood!! I recall the challenges of walking through those rough areas. The picture of one of your favorite workers is priceless. I can understand just from the picture why he is one of your favorites! Busy, busy, busy action outside of your window!! Smiles and love, Patti

You aren’t kidding about the neighborhood being spruced up. Amazing all they are doing. More photos to come and I hope to soon wrap-up my coverage of all the work accomplished. Winter is long overdue. I asked my favorite pal his name and I could not understand it and I didn’t have a paper to write it down in Mongolian so I could then understand it. I may never ever see him or the others again. Much Love and Thanks for your invaluable help proof-reading this long post. Cap
