Well let’s start with the basics..who is (was) C. V. Raman ..
C. V. Raman was a man .. in India the names mean nothing as to gender ..
He was .. SIR Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman .. got that ? On the exam you will be expected to spell this correctly ..
‘ C. V.’ was born November 7, 1888 and passed away November 21, 1970 at age 82 years .. ‘ C. V.’s ‘ father was a lecturer in mathematics and in physics .. so he came by his ‘ trade ‘ honestly..
‘ C. V. ‘ was an Indian Physicist .. who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for discovering that.. when light traverses a transparent material some of the light deflected changes wave length ..
His work bears his name and was named Raman Scattering which was caused by the Raman Effect ..
Sir C. V. Raman was the FIRST Asian to win the Nobel Prize in ANY OF THE SCIENCES and ALSO the FIRST non-white to do so..

I asked Patti to e-mail to me a list of each and every post card I have sent to her and to further describe in general terms the stamps on each post card I have sent her .. I wanted to do this so I would know which of the large and very special and unique Indian Postage Stamps I have sent her..
And ? What did I learn.. Patti kept repeating the name C V Raman as being a stamp on many of the post cards that I have sent to her ..
And ? ( come on now Zilla ! ) .. so I decided to research who on this good earth C. V. Raman is (was) .. since I had put his likeness on well over two hundred post cards (and counting because he will be on almost each and every post card that I will be sending to you from India.. so look for him and smile..)
