SEP 25, 17 .. BACK AGAIN IN OUR HOME.. ROYAL OAK, MICHIGAN

Yesterday, Sunday, the 24th of September, Patti and I drove from Gaylord, Michigan, South to Royal Oak, Michigan.

This was the final leg of a trip that began for me back in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on August the 16th when I was advised by my Mongolian doctor that I had a tumor in my left kidney. My trip back to the U.S. began in Mongolia. I then flew to Hong Kong and on to Seattle, Washington.

August 29th, Patti flew down from Alaska to meet me in Seattle, Washington, and then we two flew East to Minneapolis, Minnesota. We drove South to the Mayo Medical Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on August the 30th, to have the tumor in my left kidney examined.

I finished my medical appointments at the Mayo Clinic on September the 1st and then we two ‘hit-the-road’ exploring parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

We plan to ‘home base’ in the Royal Oak area until early November at which time we will fly North to Alaska.

Today we both had medical appointments. I will undergo a medical procedure this upcoming Thursday, the 28th. Both my doctor and I feel it is routine (a colonoscopy) but nonetheless necessary.

Yesterday Patti and I stopped for an ice cream sundae in Pinconning, Michigan.

The name of the ice cream sundae is The Kitchen Sink. Below is a photo of its serving platter.

Four large scoops of ice cream with nice toppings.

What fun we had.

Dinner tonight with Tom Tiger. My tuna sandwich. Patti’s Greek Salad. Tom’s Coney Island Hot Dog and Coney Hamburger.

I have to admit, Patti and I are looking around behind us to see what is holding the two of us upright and vertical.

Don’t look back, something might be gaining on you.  Satchel Paige

However, we are still..

Smiling..

I’m surprised you’re able to function at all after the Kitchen Sink. Better lay off the Snickers bars for a few months after all that sugar. ;<)

No wonder you're eating a light dinner.

Too funny Gullible. We could NOT pass up the opportunity to get a Kitchen Sink ice cream sundae. From Royal Oak to Pinconning it is a full 2-hour drive each way. So 4-hours of total driving time. Much like you going into and home from Anchorage but just for an ice cream sundae. In coming South to Detroit from Gaylord, we literally were driving right past Purtell’s. With the time clock ticking, it could be our last Kitchen Sink ever. Usually I eat a tuna salad sandwich before the sundae. Not this trip. All we ate was the sundae. Both of us Smiling .. Cap and Patti
