OCT 24, 18 .. ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA (Part 2 of 2) .. CHIT CHAT

I just managed to publish a post on blogspot showing photos of the Seoul, South Korea, Metro.

Sounds simple doesn’t it?

It wasn’t.

I had to verify to ‘the internet’ who I am. I got a message “We don’t recognize the computer you are trying to sign in from.”

That is because the computer I am signing in from is in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and belongs to Happy my host.

Sounds simple doesn’t it?

It wasn’t because (for one thing) my recovery cell phone is home in Anchorage, Alaska, so I could NOT get a verification text message nor a phone call to it (my recovery cell phone).

And on and on and on .. Yet (somehow) I finally prevailed and got the Post (which I wrote while in Seoul with Terry and Kathy) published.

As I write it is 0125 Hours (1:25am) in the morning, Thursday, October the 25th, here in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. I talked to Patti last night at 5:30pm (Patti’s 1:30am) and said both of us are going to lay down and sleep. I did and I assume Patti did too.

I ‘slept like the dead’ for a full six (6) hours. Awoke and here I am.

I told Patti, ” If yesterday was my only day here, the trip would have been worth it.” A full FULL day. Too full to document here. Suffice it to say, much of it was devoted to the project of getting up to Irkutsk, Russian Siberia a.s.a.p. and to saying hello to, and visiting with, my key team members here (Deegi, Khoso and Saki) as well as visiting a few favorite places (the Blue Sky Hotel, Millie’s, the Post Office, riding a few jam-packed buses, getting more minutes on my cell phone, getting Mongolian cash from an ATM, etc et al).

Next Monday, the 29th, possibly I will go up to Irkutsk by plane or by train. As I write, this has not yet been decided.

However, more shall be revealed today, Thursday, October 25, here in Ulaanbaatar. Tandy and Peter may go by train and I may / or I may not join them on the train. I may just fly to Irkutsk myself and meet them when they arrive into Irkutsk.

Smiling. I just had (at 1am / 0100 hours) my (yesterday evening) dinner. Five (5 count them) mini Snickers candy (oops food) bars to take with my vitamins. Along with a quart of water / mixed with soda pop (Fanta Toop).

Another day-in-my-life.

Over And Out for now.

Getting this Post written, and published, borders on a small miracle.

Your perseverence constantly amazes me, and so, you got the post up on blogspot of the Seoul Metro .. very modern, very clean, world-class. I can feel your ‘completeness’ on being on the ground in Mongolia, back in ‘your’ huge, comfortable room in Ulanbaatar, and having some good contacts with your close team there on your first day, visiting your familiar main spots: the postoffice, the Blue Sky Tower, Millie’s, and getting in a good supply of water. Super successful day! Smiling from here in Alaska at you in Mongolia .. Love, Patti

Thank You My Dear One. Thank You so very much. As I’ve often said to you, this internet / on-line / website deal is not for the faint-of-heart or the person who only knows how to do things half-heartedly. I failed to mention that the moment I walked into Millie’s, Daniel immediately got up, (he was sitting beside the far window with another friend) and, walking over to me, called me by name and gave me a great welcome-back greeting. Yes. A great opening-day here in Ulaanbaatar. Smiling back-to-and-with-you .. Love Cap

Cap, I’m so excited for you, and that you arrived safely and are getting settled in. The mini snickers along with the water and soda pop to take vitamins sounds very interesting. Smiles, hugs and love. Ginny
