Saturday the 22nd of February 2020 set an all time rainfall record here in Phoenix, Arizona, and environs.

We mean to tell you it really rained here.

THE CHICAGO CUBS BASEBALL TEAM HAVE A NEW FAN.

Patti and I paid $82 (Eighty Two Dollars) for a pair of tickets to see the Chicago Cubs play the Oakland Athletics in their Spring Training ‘opening game’. Because of the rain last night and this morning, the game was postponed from a 1pm first pitch to a 6pm first pitch. This is fine BUT Patti and I had plans this evening that we were NOT GOING TO CHANGE.

What to do?

Chicago Cub Ticket Office Options..

  1. Sir we can’t help you. We are powerless over the weather.
  2. Sir we will give you a rain check for a future game.
  3. Sir we will refund you 100% for the cost of your tickets.

With a small amount to trepidation, out and off yours truly went to Sloan Park (the Arizona home of the Cubs) here in Mesa, Arizona, to visit the Cubs Ticket Office. Luckily I had purchased our tickets from the official Cubs Ticket Office and not through a third party (such as Stub Hub, Ticket Master, etc). Up to the ticket window area I sauntered. I casually looked at the various personnel behind the windows selling the tickets. After deciding upon one sales agent who looked like a happy person I waited in her short line.

“Hi how may I help you?” she cheerily asked me.

As I gave her my tickets I explained my situation to her. “I paid to see a game from 1pm to 4pm and not a game from 6pm to 9pm. I have other plans at 6pm and I am not able to change my plans. What to do?”

“Good. You purchased your tickets directly from us. Have you the credit card you used along with photo identification?”

She reviewed them and smiling at me said, “Oh! You’re from Alaska! I live in Sitka during the summers. How would you like us to assist you Sir?”

“My wife and I are Mayo Clinic medical patients. During the week we may have medical appointments. This is why we bought tickets for a weekend game because our time during the week can change from day to day because of medical developments. Can we get a full refund of the cost of our tickets?”

“Sure. Here’s your full refund. It will take a few days to process. Have a nice day Sir?”

This evening Patti and I went to a special, once-a-month, Anniversary Birthday Meeting here in Mesa, Arizona. First a buffet pot-luck dinner began at 6:45pm and then the Anniversary meeting began at 8pm. Along with other members having their sobriety anniversary date in February, Patti was honored by the group. When Patti’s time to share came, I said a few words and presented her with her 20-year sobriety anniversary coin. Patti then spoke briefly (about 5 minutes). It was very special.

All in all 02 / 22 / 2020 was one very fine day for the two of us.
