OCT 24, 20 .. YOU WATCH 100 (MAYBE 500) GAMES TO SEE THIS ONE GAME
Patti and I are following this year’s Baseball World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers (LA) and the Tampa Bay Rays (TB).
We are hoping for TB to win the World Series.
LA won game one. TB won game two. LA won game three. So today’s game four had considerable importance for TB because if they lost today’s game they would fall behind LA 3 games to 1.
The below events led up to one of the wildest finishes in World Series history.
The game began pretty much in favor of LA who went ahead 1 – 0 on a home run in the top of the 1st inning. Then LA went up 2 – 0 on another home run in the 3rd inning. TB came back in the 4th inning to make it 2 – 1 for LA. Then in the top of the 5th inning it was 3 – 1 LA and then in the bottom of the 5th inning 3 – 2 LA. In the top of the 6th inning it went 4 – 2 for LA.
Then things got interesting.
In the bottom of the 6th inning, one (a 3 run home run) swing of the bat put TB ahead for the first time in the game 5 – 4.
Top of the 7th inning LA regained the lead 6 – 5. Bottom of the 7th inning TB tied the game up at 6 – 6. Top of the 8th inning LA went up 7 – 6.
No more scoring in the bottom of the 8th inning and top of the 9th inning and we came to the bottom of the 9th inning LA 7 – 6 TB.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, TB put two runners on base (one at 2nd base and one on 1st base) with two outs.
The stage is set. TB brought up a pinch-hitter (reserve outfielder Brett Phillips with a very low batting average of 0.200) and the count went to 2 strikes against him. Then (one strike away from ending the game) he hit a sharp single into right center field. The runner on 2nd base scored to tie the game at 7 – 7 BUT the center fielder muffed the ball allowing the runner who had been on 1st base to come around 3rd base AND the second throw to the LA catcher bounced of his glove and TB won the game in an amazing finish.

Following your blogs; Enjoying your late autumn walks and pics. I see the PT is on schedule but your shoulder still in pain. Our temps dipped drastically to low 50’s catching part of the Midwest artic dip. Watched my Dodgers lose that insane 4th game but they played well yesterday to go up 3-2. Yeah, Dodgers! Go Dodger Blue!! How’d you like that Az/Seattle game? Wow! A thriller to the very end. Watching the Rams put it to the Bears. Heavy winds here have stripped a big section of roofing off the rear patio overhang so I must get on that before any inclement weather. Our neighborhood has not had any rain in over 6mos.
