APR 14, 22 .. ON A ZERO TO TEN .. OUR TRIP TO LAUGHLIN, NEVADA WAS A FIFTY

Wednesday April 13, 2022

I was up just before 6am this morning (5:55am) and now, at the Edgewater Resort and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, it is just past midnight. This is pretty much the first time today that I have so much as sat down (of course I was ‘sitting’ in our truck as I drove but you get the idea).

What made today’s drive of 221.4 miles so special?

One thing : The Weather

We have been having days in the mid to high 90’s and that is hot.

When we left Phoenix at 11:15am the temperature was a very cool 68°F.

I think that the highest temperature we had during our drive was 74°F as we passed through Wikieup at mile 128 of the drive and when we rolled into Kingman, Arizona, at mile 180 the temperature was a frigid 62°F !!

Overall the Arizona scenery was outstanding. We first went North on Interstate Hwy 17 (11 miles) to New River, Arizona, then drove West on (a great name for today’s drive) Carefree Highway ( miles) to Arizona Hwy 74 and North and West ( 31 miles to U.S. Hwy 60 to Wickenburg then (109 miles to Arizona Hwy 93 North to Interstate 40 and (19 miles) West to Kingman and finally (41 miles) to Lauglin, Nevada.

Kingman, Arizona and our stolen GMC Suburban.

The County Seat of Mohave County Arizona is the City of Kingman. Here in the Mohave County Superior Court, on March 29th 2022, the man who stole our GMC Suburban was sentenced to 3 – 1/2 years in prison. By teleconferencing (I remained in Lake Havasu City) I provided the court with my Witness Impact Statement. So Patti and I went to the Mohave County Superior Court to see if I could get a transcript of what I said in my Witness Impact Statement. The wheels of government turn slowly but (it only took about an hour) I was able to order (to be emailed) a copy of my statement (after my check clears that is).

The reason I wanted a transcript is I am curious as to what I said. Even though I said it, I certainly can’t remember what I said word for word.

Time well spent.

After stopping at Sam’s Club here we were at the Edgewater Resort and Casino at 5:55pm exactly 12 hours after I arose this early morning. It has taken all evening to get sorted out and more or less moved in. Well this is a program of honesty. We DID enjoy a very light dinner here in our room and we DID watch Jeopardy (1/2 hour) and Survivor (a full 2 hour special episode) BUT during commercials I kept moving.

All in all one great day.

I can’t help leaving a comment to such a PERFECT DAY, Cap!
It’s a really great day, Cap! One can be jealous of your speed ;-) And what about Patti? I guess she was in a standby mode to catch you any time so that you don’t run away into TOMORROW… ha-ha :-)

We were SO tickled by your comment Olga! Cap is noted for his speed and how much he can accomplish in any given day, even at age 85! He amazes and sometimes, it seems, raises a bit of jealousy in his doctors, who say they hope they can be as spirited in their older age. And, yes, I (Patti) am generally in standby mode to either catch him or just to stay out of his way!! Smiling and sending love. Patti and Cap
