JUL 12, 22 (1/3) .. ENJOY A SMALL TOUCH OF ALASKAN WILDLIFE WITH US

Monday, July the 11th, 2022. As we have been doing almost every day, this evening Patti and I took a walk over to Sitka Street Park.

We usually walk all the way past the central part of the Park to the bridge at the far side of the park.

Then after we pause at the above bridge, we slowly walk back to the center of the park and sit on a bench across from the playground equipment looking at the below scene.

Suddenly, off to the left of the above photo, Patti spotted a young, yearling Moose, coming our way !! I grabbed my smartphone and began snapping the below photos.

And onward he continued to stroll. Stopping briefly to look over at us, he was probably thinking, “What are they doing here in my park?”

Onward he resumed his stroll.

Our yearling Moose was on a mission.

And into the underbrush it disappeared.

Fun huh? Yes for sure because everything turned out O.K.

The problem is this : We are dealing with very large wild animals who pose a real danger to human beings. So the minute Patti spotted the yearling, we were mentally ‘on-guard’ wondering what it was going to do and what (IF any) options we had. We were very lucky, the yearling was simply not interested in we two.

Holy cow! Yet another moose encounter, I remember your experience from the past! So thankful he only wanted to look you up and down and decided to go AWAY!! Scary and exciting all at the same time. Now that I know you’re ok, GREAT PICS!!

You SAID it Ginny. Scary and exciting at the same time. One NEVER knows for certain what a moose will do. Luckily it was not a mother moose with a young calf. THAT is the most challenging situation of all. Thanks for looking at the Post Ginny. Cap and Patti

    A real adventure!
Cap, Patti, life doesn’t want you to have a boring time, no matter where you are! And what is surprising and especially pleasing is that every time the will of God saves you. Great!
I’ve reread everything that you, Cap, have in the links about moose. As if I could ever meet them! :-) Unfortunately, the photos of your first encounter with a moose do not open for ME. Too bad!
Actually, Cap, you’re a hero. You need think about escape routes, but you grab the camera! :-) It’s fine to have Patti around! You have someone to think about these routes! :-)
