JUL 15, 22 .. A PERFECT SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES

Wandering The Streets Of My Mind.

One of the most charasmatic and fascinating human beings that both Patti and I have ever met was Simon.

I met Simon in December of 2014 in Hong Kong. Patti met him during her trip to Hong Kong in the Autumn of 2015. The three of us used to enjoy going together to McDonalds in Hong Kong, Sheung Wan, where I had a flat for one entire year. Simon was 100% responsible for helping me find, and signing a lease, on my flat.

And?

Sitting in a restaurant, in Sheung Wan, Simon used the term ..

I was just Wandering The Streets Of My Mind Cap and Patti

To describe where his (oft) distracted mind was at that particular instant.

And, one afternoon in the early Spring of 2016, I watched as Simon quietly walked up the street in Sheung Wan and out of our lives (and the lives of, it seems, 100% of his Hong Kong friends, many of whom I remain in-touch-with) forever.

Simon we all still miss you!

Where? Oh Where Was I Going? On this Post ?

Got it? Yesterday, July the 14th, I wrote a long Post about our current challenge with the Covid-19 subvariant BA.5.

Anyone (beginning with my Mayo Clinic Doctors, who tell me in response to my discussing my Long Covid Symptom of debilitating fatigue, “I hope I am doing as well as you are doing if I ever reach age 85 years.”) who ploughed through yesterday’s long post had to silently think, “Cap is talking about fatigue and then writes this long and somewhat complex post. How can he possibly be feeling fatigue?”

What happened yesterday was that I hit, NOT (THE PERFECT STORM) but A PERFECT SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES.

I originally titled this Post : THE PERFECT STORM.

I explored the proper definition of  .. The Perfect Storm ?

Where else to turn but to Google !

The Perfect Storm .. A particularly violent storm arising from a rare combination of adverse meteorological factors.

The Perfect Storm .. A particularly bad or critical state of affairs, arising from a number of negative and unpredictable factors.

The Perfect Storm .. The perfect metaphor* for the extraordinary circumstances we are facing.

*Metaphor – A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.

And I concluded that I did not want to refer to yesterday as a Perfect Storm. What I wanted to say is actually the opposite of anything approaching a violent storm, or a bad or critical state of affairs.

Yesterday, on Thursday, July 14th .. I encountered (with no intention on my part) ..

A PERFECT SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES

Yesterday Patti and I slept well past 1pm in the early afternoon. So maybe, just maybe, all that sleep helped my fatigue issue. After we two finished breakfast I (when I feel good I MUST jump on that feeling because it simply won’t last the rest of the day) left our Condo to check the mail. Then I spent 45 minutes (standing at the customer service desk at Home Depot) with the in person customer service staff AND on the telephone with the Home Depot headquarters staff getting my new Home Depot credit card into their system. I had tried about five times to do it from home with their 800 information number with NO results. None whatsover. Not one person (in 5 calls) seemed to speak English as their first language. Then I zipped over to a specialty lighting fixure store to get a new lamp bulb for our Condo living room area overhead lamp. Then I came home.

And ?

Out and off Patti went to enjoy dinner with a friend.

And ?

Energized, I sat down and (yesterday’s post took several hours) wrote and published the JUL 14, 22 post. We two squeezed in Jeopardy on our YouTube on our smart phone and at 7:25pm out and off I went to set up and get our local 8pm men’s meeting going. After the men’s meeting, I drove to our local Burger King and got a double Whopper with only tomatoes and came home to enjoy it with Patti and to visit. I settled at about 12:30am this morning.

Had any of My Doctors seen the above activity (let alone the Covid-19 subvariant BA.5) both would have wondered how on this good earth can I complain about Long Term Covid fatigue.

And?

Obviously, still somewhat highly energized, I will sign off and let Patti proof read this episode of Me Wandering The Streets Of My Mind.

Cap and Oh Yes ! Patti too !

Post Script : Oh Yes ! Andrej is working on the issue of our website here being attacked by hackers. When Andrej is on this project, I can’t be here on line using the website. Yes I am planning to post another post on blogspot about Arambol Beach in Goa in India this weekend.

Thanks Ginny. We’ll just have to wait awhile and see how my energy level pans out. We two are very oncerned about YOU. Cap and Patti

Well, while I am happy about you having a day of frenetic energy, I was anticipating that Simon had reached out. Perhaps another day.

Several asked about Simon. No. Sadly he has not re-surfacted. Smiles from the two of us. Enjoying YOUR recent birding trip.
