OCT 8, 22 .. COVID-19 BRAIN FOG .. OUR INCOME TAXES .. AUTUMN COLORS IN THE EAST

I would hope that maybe, just maybe, someone reading along here will find that they too are experiencing some long Covid-19 effects and that they are not alone with them. I myself have only spoken first hand with one other person who was also experiencing this Covid-19 Brain Fog. Does misery love company? I sure enjoyed and benefited from his take on it along with my own actual experience.

Dating back more years than I am fully aware of, I have religiously and steadfastly paid quarterly estimated taxes to the Federal I.R.S. As a result, I have always gotten refunds because my quarterly payments, plus my normal withholding deductions, have significantly exceeded my tax responsibility.

Is this because of Covid-19 Brain Fog. No! Could it be due to intense, Long Covid-19 fatigue? Probably!  I can’t say but for reasons I am not cognizant of, during the tax year 2021, I never made so much as one single quarterly estimated tax payment.

I firmly believe that the Covid-19 Brain Fog that set in this past May after our second Covid-19 infections was a major part of the reason that I, until this past Thursday the 6th, finally pulled myself together and began to prepare our 2021 Federal Income Tax Returns. Beginning last year (Income Taxes for 2020) I began to use an online income tax software program called On Line Taxes (OLT).

On Thursday I prepared, and then submitted, Patti’s 2021 income tax return  and it was accepted by the I.R.S. ! Yesterday I finalized my own 2021 income taxes and mine were also accepted by the I.R.S. !

Only those who have actually experienced the debilitating experience that is Covid-19 Brain Fog can possibly understand the enormous feat my successfully preparing our income taxes was.

Accordingly, I am now ready to formally state that I feel I have come out the other side of this particular Covid-19 challenge!

By The Way, I was pleasantly surprised (shocked is more like it) that in spite of not having made any 2021 quarterly estimated inome tax payments, I, along with Patti, will be receiving a small income tax refund!

Onward we go!!

Our good friend Eva sent some more photos, taken in and around Montague Village, MA, for us to enjoy.

Montague Village, located in Western Massachusetts, is on the banks of the Connecticut River and has a population of just under 9,000 people. Technically it is in the Springfield, Massachusetts metropolitan district. It is a 40 minute drive North from Springfield on Interstate Hwy 91 which runs North and South to the West of Montague Village.

The beginning of the beautful Autumn Colors back in the Eastern United States.

What could be more a harbinger of Autumn than Halloween and pumpkins? Yes indeed! That’s ‘our Eva’ in the photo!

A photo of an old Fountain on the common of Montague Village, MA, per Eva for people, horses and even for dogs.

Thanks again to one and all for tuning in here and for all of your support !!

I heard that 20% of the population suffers the effects of long covid. On the other hand, perhaps a neuropsych evaluation would set your mind at ease as to whether what you are experiencing is COVID or age-related. Neuropsych evaluations are said to be as important to your health as medical exams.

They include “Neuropsychological Testing and Assessment. A neuropsychological evaluation is a test to measure how well a person’s brain is working. The abilities tested include reading, language usage, attention, learning, processing speed, reasoning, remembering, problem-solving, mood and personality and more.”

Something for you to do in Arizona?

Thanks Gullible. Having experienced this testing (it is a several day process) I do know about it. I came away with extremely high scores. I will think about it when at the Mayo Clinic. Thanks.. Cap

Three (3 count them) days. It was brutal (as in BRUTAL). I had to repeat to myself constantly, this testing does not make me a bad person but it sure makes me FEEL bad about myself. THEN, at the end, they said I far FAR outpaced my peers and those up to 20 years younger. I faced a team of professionals at the Virgina Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. I went because I (me, myself and I) felt that I was losing my mind and cognitive abilities. I was absolutely positive I had Alzheimer’s. After it was all done, they were amazed at why I had felt this way. Cap

I feel your brain fog pain. I recently completed my 2021 taxes too. I just didn’t have the brain power do them last spring or this summer. I have rarely had to pay; I almost always got a refund. Well this year, I did owe a bit to the IRS. Only $65 so the penalty shouldn’t be too bad. I am hoping that next spring I will be more on top of things.

It IS amazing Kathleen. It is absolutely, positively, amazing. One has to actually experience it to really know. What else to say? Cap
