In all of my eleven years (and counting) of having this website (my Web Log aka BLOG) I have NEVER EVER commented on Groundhog Day. For reasons I don’t understand (it proves that Julia Cameron is correct : Just sit down and start writing, the ideas will follow) suddenly (this past Thursday, February 2nd, ON Groundhog Day) I commented on, and published a Post on, Groundhog Day.

THE REST OF THE STORY about Mojave Maxine.

Mojave Maxine is a desert tortoise that lives in Palm Desert, California. In late January or early February she signifies that warmer weather is on the way.

Yikes ! Mojave Maxine sure looks fierce !

The East Coast has Punxsutawney Phil (below) and Groundhog Day to let them know when they can expect spring.

Punxsutawney Phil sure is more cuddly than Mojave Maxine !

Mojave Maxine lives at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert, California. Maxine and her tortoise roommates typically enter brumation around Thanksgiving. Brumation is how desert tortoises and other desert reptiles survive the cold winters – they sleep through them in their insulated, underground burrows.
