Waiting three hours. Yes, that’s the difference between tourists and wildlife photographers. I have a friend who was dressed in white camo, was lying on the spring ice near a certain lake for so long that a nearby resident called the cops, thinking he was dead. Cop showed up, ascertained he was okay. Friend got his shot of a bufflehead duck, though.
