FEB 16, 24 .. NORTH TO LAKE HAVASU CITY..

Friday, February 16th, 2024

Our four days of medical appointments at the Mayo Clinic (this past Monday through Thursday) are finished.

Today we drive “home” from Phoenix to our apartment in Lake Havasu City.

We are looking forward to getting back “home”.

Yesterday I wrote that today I was going to undergo a “routine” endoscopy. It turned out to be “truly routine”. It was a follow up from my February 28th, 2023, endoscopy and all went well.

Given the fact that we both are Octogenarians, our overall health is OK!

Needless to say, there is a lot of stress involved with these Medical Procedures. To begin with, they are scheduled “months in advance”.  As a result of months of anticipation, the night before an appointment I stress out hoping we awaken in the morning and that our two alarm clocks function properly. Then the issue of traffic and possible accidents that can delay one for hours comes up. Take the freeway or take city streets. Even finding a parking place at the hospital can be a challenge.

BOTTOM LINE : You do NOT want to miss an appointment you’ve spent months anticipating knowing if you do miss an appointment it could take you months to reschedule.

This disaster has happened to us! So we have actually experienced missing an appointment.

Several years ago, Patti had a 10am appointment. We woke up, in our beds, at exactly 10am!

What happened? The Mayo Clinic “had our backs”. At 4pm “after normal hours” Patti saw a Doctor!

Patti snapped the below photos as I was waiting to be taken into the operating room.

As you look at each of the below photos, please notice a small, cloth, bag immediately in front of my hands.

The above bag is one of several that I had with me.

Below is a close up photo of the bags.

The bags contain Spiritual Pocket Stones that I give to my medical staffers including my Doctors. Everyone seems to get great joy as they reach into a bag and pick out “Their” Spiritual Pocket Stone!

Below are some of the names on the Spiritual Pocket Stones.

Accept, Believe, Blessed, Clarity, Courage, Desire, Dream, Faith, Family, Friends, Freedom, Focus, Happiness, Healing, Health, Honor, Hope, Inspire, Joy, Kindness, Laugh, Love, Nature, Nurture, Passion, Peace, Relax, Strength, Success, Trust, Wealth, Wisdom.

To quote Peyton Manning .. “It’s what I do.”

Enough huh? Thursday night and we’ve a long day tomorrow. Bedtime!

Thanks Ginny. All’s well that ends well Ginny. Once upon a time, Patti was with me, I drove over one thousand miles (1,000) in one 24-hour day. Now a mere two hundred (200) mile stroll seems like a Grand Accomplishment! Smiles .. Cap and Patti

First, praying that all of your exams go routinely, painlessly and in quick fashion! I sure can relate to the stress and anxiety!
Now, here are my true reactions:
OW! Ouch! Owie! Egads! Son-of-a-Seabiscuit! Just the thought of having a camera (seeming the boom attachment, too!) rammed down ANY orifice sends spasmodic chills through my every cellular fiber! Why? Because I have personal experience with the very same! Never fun, always stressful. And how do we get through these challenges? By putting one foot forward, one after the other, sometimes just doing the next best thing…like dining over a great asian dinner of Singapore Rice Noodles! lol
Prayers that you both experience better health and great news knowing that you are loved by all and you’re in great hands with the teams of doctors and nurses at the Mayo Clinic.
    Sending love and hugs,
    Michael and Little Bit

Back in the day, say 1990’s, there was no anesthesia used. You were told to SWALLOW as they began the endoscopy procedure. Now you are “out cold” totally unconscious. You awaken and ask when the procedure will begin. The nursing staff advise you it is complete! Unlike last year’s endoscopy, there were no after effects at all on this “go around” Michael. Thanks for your support! Cap and Patti
