MAR 1, 24 .. ONE ATTA BOY CAPTAIN..

Atta Boy Captain

Once in a great while, I have to give myself an “Atta Boy”, a little pat on my own back.

Yesterday it happened.

Back in January of this year, Patti received, in the mail, a form that she must complete each and every single year to confirm that she is still basically alive, and entitled to receive an annual pension from one of her former employers.

The following words, in dark, bold letters, were on the paperwork she must also have formally notarized.

Failure to return this form by March 1, 2024, could result in the suspension of your monthly retirement benefit.

No big deal at all. Each and every January, like clockwork, for many years she has received this form.

Failure to return this form by March 1, 2024, could result in the suspension of your monthly retirement benefit.

So Captain what IS the big deal?

Yesterday was February the 29th, the day before March 1, 2024!!

Odd as it may seem, the form had “escaped” from Patti.

Translation : Last January Patti “filed this critical form in a safe place” and promptly forgot all about it.

Forgot all about it UNTIL this past Wednesday evening, February the 28th, after we watched Survivor, when the form suddenly “appeared”.

Patti had put it into her Carryon Bag, one that she always has with her when she travels. When she opened her beloved “Silver Carryon Bag” to begin packing for our trip to Phoenix tomorrow there was the form “safely packed away”.

Failure to return this form by March 1, 2024, could result in the suspension of your monthly retirement benefit.

Patti, “Our Patti”, was upset, distraught, frustrated, panic stricken, mad at herself, and and and..

Wednesday night Patti went to bed still upset, distraught, frustrated, panic stricken, mad at herself, and and and..

Captain To The Rescue..

Yesterday, Thursday morning the 29th of February, the day before March the 1st, I got up and I called Patti’s former employer (using Patti’s phone to help them feel I was legitimate) and explained the situation.

Then I gave them Patti’s information and explained that we are in Arizona for the winter and the form “just disappeared”.

Back the gentleman fired!

Sir NO problem here! This happens all the time with elderly retirees! Just complete the form and mail it back when you can and we will handle it.

THEN? I got online and made an appointment with our local Wells Fargo Bank to have the form notarized at 2:30pm yesterday afternoon.

THEN? When Patti slowly awakened around 11am I told Patti what I had accomplished.

Need I say Patti was very relieved, happy, grateful, and and and ..

Your Captain got an Atta Boy!

Note from Patti:  Cap got NUMEROUS ATTA BOYS from me throughout the day… I was SO relieved by and appreciative of what Cap had done for me BEFORE I was even awake!!!  Hurray for Cap!!!

Tomorrow, Saturday the 2nd of March, Patti and I are driving South to Phoenix for more Mayo Clinic Medical Appointments next Monday through Wednesday.

Here is another Atta Boy.

I am going to bed so I can get us out of here for Phoenix in good time.

☺ ☺ ☺ I also have heard of a “well done” expression. But I like “Atta Boy” as well!
Cap, you’re REALLY a HERO in your family series “Survivors” and you both actually DO VERY WELL fighting all the trials! ♥
I’m proud of both of you and admire you!

Smiling BIG SMILES Olga. Thanks for your comment. In my opinion, Atta Boy is far more personal than Well Done. Have you (perhaps in prior years) watched Survivors Olga. Much fun. Cap and Patti, who by the way, got me started watching Survivor back in year 2004 I think.

Wow! You are a true hero, Cap. Kudos to you for thinking of calling them and then making the notary appointment while Patti slept! As someone who puts things in a safe place and then forgets about them, I know the panic well. What a wonderful surprise for Patti to find out it had been brilliantly handled. Safe travels to Phoenix.

Yes Kathleen, once in awhile, I get it right! To Feel Good, Do Good. That says it all. Helping Patti out made me feel great because I really REALLY did help her out. Lock. Stock. Barrel. Thanks for your comment Kathleen. Cap
