HUGS ..

It’s wondrous what a hug can do,

A hug can cheer you when you’re blue.

A hug can say, “I love you so.”

or “Gee I hate to see you go.”

A hug is, “Welcome back again!”

and “Great to see you!” or

“Where’ve you been?”

A hug can soothe a small child’s pain

And bring a rainbow after rain.

The hug! There’s just no doubt about it,

We scarcely could survive without it.

A hug delights and warms and charms,

It must be why God gave us arms.

Hugs are great for fathers and mothers,

Sweet for sisters, swell for brothers,

and chances are some favorite aunts

love them more than potted plants.

Kittens crave them. Puppies love them.

Heads of State are not above them.

A hug can break the language barrier,

And make the dullest day seem merrier.

No need to fret about the store of ’em,

The more you give, the more there

are of ’em.

So stretch those arms without delay

and give someone a hug today.

Very Nice !!

NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR.. Is the source of all of the information on my “Days”.

SHARE A HUG DAY..

Share a Hug Day is celebrated every year in the United States on July 30. The idea behind it is to let the people close to you know that you love and appreciate them by hugging them.

Hugs are especially beneficial for people that are feeling down, as being surrounded by the arms of another person and the warmth of their body, communicates a sense of empathy, security, and solidarity.

Anytime is a great time to share a hug with someone willing to receive or give one.

Did anyone remember that we also looked at Hugs on June the 29th?

Someone might need a kleenex as you read the below story!

The creator of Share a Hug Day was Mike Brundritt.

He and his wife Lacie had two sons, Kyle and Evan. On the afternoon of July 30, 2017, they were returning home to Amherstburg, Ontario, from a camping trip. A fast moving transport truck hit them from behind while they were stopped in a construction zone on Ontario Highway 401 near Chatham-Kent, Ontario. Brundritt and his youngest son Evan survived the tragedy, but his wife and oldest son Kyle died instantly.

Since then, Brundritt and his son have had mental issues, and he is still recovering from back injuries. One year later, a few days before the first anniversary of the accident, he started thinking about ways to honor and remember his wife and son.

He remembered how often he and his family would share hugs, as a greeting, as a goodbye, or just to show their love. He also remembered the many hugs shared with his friends after the accident. Thus, he decided to start a hug day to honor their lives.

Kleenex time..

On July 30, 2018, he wrote a post on his Facebook profile: “We have days of the year designated for different things: National Coffee Day, National Ice Cream Day, etc. I would like your help in starting National Share a Hug Day. July 30th is the anniversary of the loss of my son and wife and I want to try to honor the love that we shared by starting something special.”

“I am not sure how to get this going, but for now, I think word of mouth will work. Please go and hug someone today to help get this movement started.”

THEN Radio Station CKLW got “involved” big time!

CKLW is known as The Big 8, and it is the major radio station in Windsor, Ontario, and one of the most powerful Radio Stations in all of Canada.

CKLW is located directly across the Detroit River from Detroit, and CKLW “took the story” of Mike Brundritt to their massive listening audience.

Bingo! Mike Brundritt got his wish for a Hug Day!!

Mike Brundritt works / worked for CLINILABS.

Whewie. Sometimes it just takes just ONE person to make a difference.

Hug Tid-Bits..

There are three basic hugs. A friendly hug, a simple two-armed hug where both people’s chests are touching. The side hug, in which two people hug each other with their arms around either the waist or the shoulder of the other person while standing side by side. The most satisfying one is the bear hug, like a normal hug but closer, tighter and longer.

The average hug lasts 3.17 seconds. This was discovered in a study led by Emese Nagy, from the University of Dundee.

We have really been “deeply touched” by what we found here in National Today’s topic for July 30th, Hugs.
