AUG 21, 24 .. THE STREAK (PART 1).. SENIOR CITIZENS.. SELF-CARE..
On Thursday, the 22nd of September, 2022, we published a Post here on dotnet.
Today marks the twenty third (23) consecutive month that WE have published a Post each and every single day without fail.
This includes the days (August the 8th and 9th, 2024) when Midphase, our website hosting service, suspended our website.

Somehow we survived this with The Streak legitimately intact!
Patti and I know that we keep repeating ourselves but WE means each and every single one of you who follow us, and who contribute by making suggestions, comments, sending us photos, etc.
Thanks So Very Much.

NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR.. Is the source of all of the information on my “Days”.
August the 21st had only nine “Days”.

But two of the nine caught our interest,

This “Day” is of interest because, as Senior Citizens, Patti and I are living and experiencing this right now, this instant.
Enlighten us NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR!
Do you have an elderly person in your life that you love and appreciate? National Senior Citizens Day, August 21, is the day to let them know how much you care and it’s an opportunity to recognize their accomplishments.
In 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed this holiday to raise awareness about issues that affect senior citizens and their quality of life.
Today, seniors are still active in their communities as well as continuing to have a strong presence in the workforce. For all they do and have achieved for the good of their communities, senior citizens deserve our thanks!
President Ronald Reagan took the initiative to honor seniors in 1988 when he signed Proclamation 5847 and marked August 21 as the day seniors will be celebrated. “Throughout our history, older people have achieved much for our families, our communities, and our country. That remains true today, and gives us ample reason this year to reserve a special day in honor of the senior citizens who mean so much to our land,” Reagan proclaimed. “For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older — places in which older people can participate to the fullest and can find the encouragement, acceptance, assistance, and services they need to continue to lead lives of independence and dignity.”
Senior Citizen Tid-Bits..
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 78 million people aged 65 and older will reside in America by 2035. This figure will surpass the number of the population under the age of 18 for the first time in the nation’s history.
60.. the age after which a person is considered to be a senior citizen.
75.. the age at which one in three elderly people don’t get any physical activity.
99% ..the percentage of people aged 65 and above who have health insurance.
Are you a senior citizen yourself? Well, today is all about you! Live it up and treat yourself. Spend time with your favorite people, go shopping — do whatever you like. This could be the day you finally try that one thing you never have time for or perhaps it’s a perfect day to chill at home. You’ve earned this time, so enjoy it!
Oh yes there were many more Tid-Bits but we opted NOT to show them because they all have to do with declining health.

Enough said.

The below “Day” really ‘goes with’ the above “Senior Citizens Day”!

Patti and I certainly use the internet to read about the many various advancements in medicine.
Internet Self-Care Day is celebrated each year on August 21. This holiday is dedicated to using the internet to find resources that can help you take care of yourself.
Many of us are so preoccupied with taking care of others, whether at work or home, that we forget to take care of ourselves.
Self-care is described as caring for oneself through practices that promote health and active management of illness when it strikes.
There are many ways to regularly practice self-care: through food choices, exercise, sleep, and dental care, for example.
When we talk about our bubble bath rituals and ‘me time,’ we frequently overlook that self-care has ancient roots and radical history. The term ‘self-care’ was formed or created in the 1950s. It was initially intended to express how institutionalized people could develop a feeling of self-worth via actions of care and preservation. In the 1960s, thanks to civil rights activists, the phrase went from the medical community to the general public. Self-care became famous as a way to combat fatigue.
Self-care is as easy as getting a good night’s sleep. Sleep deprivation affects far too many individuals, and it harms both physical and mental health. Your body will be able to recover and regenerate itself if you get at least six to eight hours of sleep every night.
A few Tid-Bits..
Use Google to find items that provide you comfort. It could be anything related to your passion, such as writing, sketching, painting, or reading. Today, indulge in your passions.
Today, take some time to pamper yourself. Purchase something you’ve always desired or spend a nice day alone. Today is the day to splurge on your favorite delicacies or scents.
While social media allows for self-expression, it also creates a lot of confusion and toxicity. You can be influenced by too much negative information and user perspectives.
Do not allow anonymous people to manage your mental health by blocking anything that may help you.
60 to 70% of the chronic diseases we know in this world are caused by key parts of self-care neglect.
It is not always necessary to spend money on self-care.
Self-awareness is the first step toward self-care.
Self-care can aid in the development of self-esteem.

There is no doubt that we are living in an enlightened time.
