Let’s see.. I’ve tried.. “ZEN AND THE ART OF______” .. In FWIW 25 I tried.. “THE SIXTY-FOUR-THOUSAND-DOLLAR QUESTION FOR TODAY”.. and in FWIW 25.1 I came up with this sub-theme.. “WISDOM OF THE AGES.. SPIRITUAL TRUTH” ..

SO HERE ARE TWO MORE SPIRITUAL TRUTHS..

“WHEN IN ROME.. DO AS THE ROMANS DO!..”
“IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM.. JOIN THEM!..”

I have repeatedly talked recently about the MONSOON RAINS here in Calcutta as I work my way through September and into October.. MY FIRST EVER TIME IN INDIA at this time of year..

Back in FWIW.. 19.1.. I talked about having been totally and having been utterly defeated by the Monsoon Rains when I went out to re-charge my cell phone..

I did NOT want to destroy my Nike.. Ankle-High-Boots.. by wading in shin deep water.. ALMOST.. let’s say 95%.. (there were some who.. like me.. were wearing shoes).. but ALMOST 95% of the local population were WEARING SANDALS AND FREELY WALKING THROUGH DEEP WATER LAKES at street intersections and curbs..

So.. last Saturday.. I went out to the NIKE Store on Chowringhee in the Oberoi Grand Hotel Complex.. and.. for forty ($40) U.S. Dollars I purchased myself a spiffy set of NIKE sandals.. sandals I have already used INSIDE MY HOTEL ROOM while washing my clothes in my bathroom.. and just enjoying having on to walk around in..

WHATTA PAIR OF CONCEPTS.. WHEN IN ROME.. AND.. IF YOU CAN’T BEAT ‘EM JOIN ‘EM..

ANOTHER COMMENT ON THE MONSOON RAINS..

It does NOT rain all day and it does NOT rain all night.. when it does rain.. it may NOT rain-like-hell-cats-and-dogs.. it may rain kindda normally..

BUT OFTEN.. WHEN IT RAINS.. IT RAINS-LIKE-HELL-HATH-NO-FURY.. and the streets flood and it is a problem.. and when it starts.. it goes from zero to 100 mph or more SUDDENLY.. the first few drops and SHA-ZAAM.. and it seems that the night rains are just steady downpours that you in the States would say “This is a heavy rain” but here we think “THIS is NOT a downpour”..
