NOV 24, 24.. ( 1 / 2 ) QUILTS FROM KIT..

Today’s Guest Contributor is Kit from South Dakota.

I know I am repeating myself but it is so true. All of you who follow us here on dotnet, by sending us photos, suggestions and comments, you enable us to continue to publish Posts! Without YOUR contributions, it would be very difficult to continue to publish Posts here on dotnet.

Kit emailed us:

I’ve been helping at the therapy barn for a few years now. In return I have unrestricted access to the animals to help care for them. I don’t do a lot of the heavy lifting, instead I am a grandma (they call me an “unci”; Lakota for grandma) influence there to assist in behavioral issues with the animals…basically to help with their happiness. Of course I receive much more than I give.

Anyway, I was presented with a star quilt for my birthday this year. In Lakota culture star quilts are given in many celebrations, and to receive such an art piece is a great honor. I can use the quilt on my bed, hang it on the wall or fold (star inward) and stack in the corner for use on a cold day.

Nice photos Kit.. a stunningly beautiful Lakota quilt!!

Hi Kit!

Kit also sent us the below link to the International Quilt Museum.

The International Quilt Museum is located on the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s East Campus, and houses the largest publicly held quilt collection in the world. Diversity and inclusion are central to the University’s and the IQM’s mission and pursuit of excellence. Each person has something to gain from and offer to our community of learning, discovery, and outreach. All are welcome here.
